Title: Physical Security Technician
Location: NY Metro Area
Coranet Corp. is seeking a Security Technician to join their Field Service teams. The Technician will work under our Lead Technicians on Coranet's IT infrastructure technician teams to entirely and successfully install low-voltage projects, specifically access control, physical security, and programming Security, and WiFi systems throughout the NY/NJ region.
The technician should have experience with the installation of access control, video surveillance, intrusion, and intercom systems. He/she should be working towards or have expert industry knowledge so that they are capable of providing technical direction to team members.
COMMON TASKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE POSITION
• Installation of access control system field devices, locking hardware and head end equipment.
• Installation of video surveillance system field devices and head end equipment.
• Installation of intrusion alarm system field devices and head end equipment.
• Installation of intercom system field devices and head end equipment.
• Installation and termination of wiring for access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarm and intercom systems.
• Testing and troubleshooting of wiring for access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarm and intercom systems.
•Performing project close out system testing with the project manager and engineering team members.
• Preparation of as-built/redline drawings for the project closeout process. Attendance of project construction meetings with the project manager and client team members.
• Attendance of site walk through meetings with client team members.
• Daily reporting to the Field Installation Manager and Project Manager on project status and project needs.
Coordination and Inventory:
- Work with General Contractors and other project trades such as electrical, furniture, carpet, etc.
- Receive and inventory drop-shipped project materials.
Supervision and Guidance:
- Provide moderate supervision and guidance to Level 1 Technicians.
- Assist in training and developing Level 1 Technicians.
Troubleshooting:
- Troubleshoot telecommunication connectivity systems.
Programming:
- Program and configure Security, AV, and WiFi systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum two years of access control system installation experience in commercial applications.
• Minimum two years of IP video surveillance system installation experience in commercial applications.
• Access control and video surveillance system manufacturer certifications or equivalent training credentials.
• Knowledge of security wiring installation and termination methods.
• Knowledge in security industry trouble shooting methods.
• Knowledge the use of security industry test and equipment (power meters, UTP testers, tone generators).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
• Must be available for an "on call" service rotation.
• Must meet NYS requirements for installation, servicing or maintaining security systems.
Must have demonstrated experience:
- in working with General Contractors and other project trades, e.g., electrical, furniture, carpet, etc.
- with the receipt and inventory of drop-shipped project materials.
- in programming and configuring Security, AV, and WiFi Systems
Required:
- Valid driver's license
- Access to a motor vehicle
- Finger and wrist dexterity, hand/eye coordination.
- Ability to work from heights using proper fall protection.
- Proficiency with small hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., and drive a vehicle.
Preferred Optional Qualifications:
- Available for off-hour assignments - weekends and nights.
- Certifications, e.g., CommScope, Corning, etc.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Capable of operating with minimal supervision.
- Willing to travel, work on remote teams while onsite performing project-driven initiatives
- Strong administrative skills and the ability to turn around deliverables in a timely fashion
Working Conditions:
- Job is usually performed in indoor/outdoor environments under multiple environmental conditions.
- Ability to accept periodic assignments that involve travel away from the immediate district office area based on client needs, business needs, and project scope.
- Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards.
- Must be able to work in the United States.
