We are in need of a dynamic and highly experienced Operations Manager. Our ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with hands-onexperience in the logistics industry, ready to take charge and mentor our team based on their vast knowledge and insights.
The ideal candidate for this role must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as they will be interacting with a diverse group of colleagues, drivers, and even dissatisfied customers. Additionally, strong leadership skills are essential, as this role requires managing employees and finances, as well as making critical decisions promptly. Time management is a crucial component of this role, and it is expected that the Operations Manager will be available to answer after-hour calls when necessary. In addition, a strong understanding of all procedures related to transporting goods, along with proficient computer skills, will be highly valued qualifications for this position.
- Key Responsibilities:
- - Collaborate with Sales and Management to conduct frequent evaluations of current freight lanes
- - Develop Departmental budgets in alignment with our CFO and participate in monthly budget meetings
- - Manage and coach Driver Managers and Planners to ensure optimal utilization of Drivers, fleets, and equipment
- - Oversee Yard and Dropped Trailer management
- - Review Deadhead and Out of Route issues to contain operating costs
- - Monitor and improve MPG, Idle and Fuel routing compliance
- - Provide input to Sales on operational needs to achieve driver and fleet mileage goals
- - Coordinate with tractor and trailer Equipment Managers to ensure timely maintenance and proper equipment utilization
- - Work with the Director of Customer Service to meet customer objectives
- Key Qualifications:
- - Proven track record in transportation or logistics management
- - Strong leadership abilities and team management skills
- - Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- - Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices
- - Outstanding communication and organizational skills
- - Ability to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
