About Us: Ignite Achievement Academy is dedicated to providing exceptional educational experiences for students with special needs. Our BEACON program is specifically designed to support students with speech and/or behavioral disabilities through personalized attention and comprehensive support. With small class sizes and a collaborative approach, we ensure each child receives the care and instruction they need to thrive.
Program Overview: The BEACON program at Ignite Achievement Academy offers a unique and supportive environment for students with speech and behavioral disabilities. Our nonverbal/minimally verbal classrooms feature co-teaching with a speech-language pathologist (SLP) and a special education teacher during direct instruction times. This model ensures continuous speech support and fosters better communication outcomes. With class sizes averaging just four students, teachers can provide individualized attention and implement effective behavioral strategies.

This position is based at our North Campus located at 3835 W WT Harris Blvd., Charlotte, 28269.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Plan and deliver personalized instruction tailored to the unique needs of each student in the BEACON program, with a focus on speech and behavioral development utilizing the provided curriculum.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a speech-language pathologist (SLP) during direct instruction times to provide continuous speech support and services.
- Behavioral Support: Implement and monitor behavioral strategies to create a supportive and structured classroom environment that promotes positive behaviors and social interactions.
- Individualized Academic Plans: Develop, along with the Head of School, implement, and regularly update Academic Plans for each student, ensuring alignment with their specific goals and needs.
- Assessment: Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress, adjust instructional methods as needed, and provide detailed reports on student achievements.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to support student progress and well-being.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education, speech support, and behavioral interventions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification, special education preferred but not required.
- Experience working with students with speech and/or behavioral disabilities, preferably in a self-contained classroom setting.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students with special needs.
