About the Job
As a Senior Accountant with Scout Clean Energy, you will play an integral role in building a tightly knit and highly productive team. You will engage directly in every facet of a wind & solar developer and operator’s accounting, ranging from day-to-day transactions, to month-end financials closing for a multi-entity company. You will be responsible for accurately completing a variety of accounting tasks on firm timelines, assuring the company’s ability to continue to support growth and meet our commitments to our staff, investors, communities, and business partners.
Throughout the day, you will interface with the Accounting team members as well as other departments to complete the required tasks at hand. The Senior Accountant reports directly to Scout’s Assistant Controller.
The ideal candidate will seek to master the tasks initially assigned to them while maintaining a growth mindset, stepping in to support others on the team with new responsibilities as they emerge. To start, the Senior Accountant will have the following responsibilities:
- Prepare multiple entities accounting financial statements. (Multi-entity accounting and consolidation experience preferred.)
- Perform intercompany accounting
- Perform as required the following during month-end closing process:
- AP and AR reconciliations
- Bank reconciliations
- Revenue accruals
- Closing adjusting, accrual, and depreciation entries
- Job cost reconciliations
- Intercompany accounting reconciliations
- Equity roll forward reconciliations
- Preparation and reconciliation of supporting schedules
- Own your assigned entities’ financials, including posting AR and AP invoices
- Provide audit support
- Prepare and analyze financial statements
- Support the review and documentation of existing processes
- Willingness to actively participate in self-training and training others as necessary
- Review and assist in monthly sales and use tax filings for multiple states
- Assist with corporate tax filings process
- Ad hoc assignments and special projects as required.

Requirements
Work Experience and Skillset:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in energy, construction, or real estate development.
- Experience with multiple entities accounting and consolidations, including intercompany accounting.
- Demonstrated experience with key software systems:
- Required: Working experience with accounting/ERP systems and Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft tools, especially Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- GL and journal entry experience is required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience with writing, editing, or collaboration on operational procedures.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational and deadline-driven time management skills.
- Public accounting experience is a plus
- Optional: CPA license

Our ideal candidate is located in Boulder, or would be willing to relocate to Boulder in order to be able to commute to our Boulder office on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office/week).
Benefits
Target base salary: $90,000 - $100,000 (Negotiable for the right candidate)
