Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. This role is essential for maintaining financial integrity and supporting the accounting operations as the current Senior Accountant prepares for retirement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in government contracting and a CPA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and validate operational data, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
- Generate financial reports and support the preparation of financial statements.
- Review monthly financial statements and year-end audit reports for correctness.
- Audit workflows to ensure proper authorization of accounting transactions.
- Assist in the month-end closing process and financial reporting, including account analysis and reconciliations.
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual and interim financial statement audits.
- Prepare client invoices and understand the payroll process.
- Analyze billing, expenses, and job costs, performing closeout procedures as needed.
- Maintain a fixed asset system for all company property and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with payroll taxes and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Review contracts and follow project setup and billing protocols.
- Develop and maintain internal documentation of procedures.
- Participate in special projects and support team members as required.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 15 years of accounting experience, with a focus on government contracting.
- CPA certification is required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Power BI is preferred.
- Strong analytical and financial assessment skills.
