We are looking for a resourceful, passionate, self-starting Senior Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance department. This position will report to the Vice President of Finance and be responsible for managing all things accounting and finance from payroll accounting to monthly close, annual plan and audit support.
The Senior Accountant is required to follow department procedures to ensure that internal controls are followed and segregation of duties are maintained. These internal controls are critical to our ability to produce accurate financial statements, obtain clean audit opinions, and to the overall financial success of the company. Accountants are also responsible for communicating any concerns regarding internal controls or compliance with internal controls to management.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate, timely monthly and annual financial statements, reports and records in accordance with our established schedule and with input from the rest of the accounting department by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information.
- Take ownership of processes and procedures for monthly and annual finance and accounting reporting.
- Prepare complex journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations for monthly close and year-end close, to meet closing deadlines.
- Oversee the activities and management of the ap and reconciliation clerk and managing vendor payables, appropriate cash flow management, vendor relationships and ensuring appropriate cut-off at each month, quarter and year-end. Perform additional duties as needed.
- Manage payroll processing and accounting, ensuring payroll is processed timely and accurately and the general ledger is accurately maintained.
- Find and implement opportunities and changes to streamline and improve internal accounting and finance processes and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or another related field
- CPA or MBA preferred, but not required.
- 3-5+ years’ experience in accounting and/or finance.
- Experience leading and managing monthly and annual finance and accounting closing processes and procedures
- Experience working in Quickbooks Online and Rippling payroll a plus
- Advanced Excel skills, including vlookups and pivot tables required
- Knowledge of GAAP
