Job Purpose:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the internal/external financial reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate completion and compliance with GAAP and IFRS and applicable regulatory reporting. The successful candidate will provide financial operating results to multiple levels of management ensuring accuracy and timeliness of the information. The Sr. Accountant also maintains and monitors the daily activities/transactions associated with segments of the Company as well as prepares and assists in the monthly financial closing process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Timely and accurate daily processing of accounting transactions. Prepare/ review timely account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial reporting
- Assist with the coordination and completion of the financial close process in conjunction with reporting timelines
- Generate, review, record and post general journal entries to the Company's financial books and records
- Identifies and investigates problems in financial processes as it relates to recording of monthly costs and recommends continuous improvement opportunities.
- Prepare monthly closing entries and related accruals. Prepare and reconcile all intercompany financial transactions. Assist with setup and integration of accounting process and reporting because of acquisition/ merger/ divestitures
- Responsible for creation and comparison of monthly cost trends for forecasting, comparison to budget and monthly trend variances.
- Take ownership of accounting process for internal control and reporting purposes
- Assist with periodic review of accounting policies, procedures and workflow practices and assist with periodic program review
- Provide detailed reports and/or analysis to management as requested
- Assist with internal and external audits. Assist with the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program by ensuring internal control procedures are designed properly and working effectively and documentation is kept up to date.
- Business plan and budgeting support
- Prepare/review timely account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial reporting
- Cross-train with other accounting/finance personnel to always allow for adequate department coverage
- Other duties and projects as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or management
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Attention to detail and accuracy with a high level of initiative and task completion
- Ability to manage and organize time and conflicting priorities in a fast paced, demanding environment
- Demonstrated working knowledge of statutory and GAAP/IFRS accounting
- Experience with Microsoft Office Excel and Word
- A proven ability to communicate with multiple site locations and at all levels to accumulate data, interpret results, propose changes and report the financial effect of business decisions
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of seven-eight years' relevant accounting experience. CPA, MBA or CMA certification desired.
- NAV software experience a plus.
Salary: Starting from $95,000 per year
