Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for transacting and maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger, financial reporting, accounting procedures, reconciliations, grant reporting support, and preparing all records as needed.

Although remote work is permitted occasionally for this position, the individual must reside primarily in North Texas with the ability to work from the office or other required location daily.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for transacting and maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger, financial reporting, accounting procedures, reconciliations, grant reporting support, and preparing all records as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare general ledger journal entries monthly. Respond to management inquiries regarding actual expenses.
- Review accounting calculations and transactions for appropriateness to include payroll and benefit records, accounts payable, accounts receivable (cash receipts, credit card receipts, checks, etc.), budget, fixed assets, and other areas as needed.
- Assist with preparation of organization and departmental budgets, supporting schedules for informational returns, Audit schedules, and 1099 preparations.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Prepare reconciliations for asset and liability accounts and ensure all reconciliations are performed in a timely manner.
- Processing fixed assets.
- Maintain financial records of assigned grants in compliance with Uniform Guidance.
- Keep organized and accurate accounting records.
- Serve as the back-up person for the other functions in the Finance department.

- Must be eligible to work in the United States (No Sponsorship)
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Familiar with general ledgers, chart of accounts, budget preparation and grants management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Excel) and financial accounting systems
- Government grant compliance training
- Ability to monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity, analyze data, ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations and systems of internal control, interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation and create financial reports and/or presentations
- Demonstrate high level of initiative and ability to complete tasks with the upmost professionalism
- Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to details and good record-keeping
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational abilities, analytical and communication skills
- Team player, collaboration and time management skills are required
- High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate financial issues to all levels of staff, including, non-financially literate employees and external grantors
- Great customer service orientation with both internal and external clients
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum three years professional accounting experience required. A Bachelor level degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
