Clientmind is now recruiting for a Frederick, Maryland company's Accountant/Senior Accountant.
This role is responsible for performing the company's accounting and daily financial management.
Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and/or maintaining one or a combination of generally accepted accounting systems, preparing and analyzing financial reports and journal entries, maintaining and reconciling ledger accounts, and providing records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transitions.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Perform basic accounting procedures (e.g. A/R, A/P, time billing, P/R, G/L, tax payments and inventory control)
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
• Works in unison with our operations team on inventory control best practices and procedures
• Prepare and publish timely financial statements (e.g., monthly and quarterly financial reports and weekly forecasts to management team summarizing current and projected financial position)
• Produce and publish timely all month-end and quarterly closing (e.g., balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements)
• Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and investment transactions in conjunction with preparing quarterly reports for management
• Assist Accounting Manager with annual financial and 401K audits by serving as company liaison with auditors
• Communicate with customers to address past-due invoices on their account
• Produce financial data for the management team upon request and assist with other special accounting projects such as project costing and profitability.
• Perform analysis of operations every month
• Assist in the sales process of commercial projects, including but not limited to providing updated COIs to the builders, coordinating bonding, managing wage scale documentation, processing AIA applications, billing, and applying retention funds.
• Administration of business insurance, including review of policy renewal proposals, communicating changes to a broker where required (e.g., autos added and removed, certificates needed), coordinating annual audits with carrier representatives, including providing requested information and requesting bonds and bonding information from the broker when needed.
• Ensure all active projects are covered by valid, binding contracts
• Upload ACH and review “Positive Pay” daily
• Review AP and AR inboxes daily and assist staff with communication management
• Works closely with coordinator staff to ensure all necessary vendor credits due are received and applied promptly, including warranty work and returned material
• Produces the annual budget and forecasts by working with all departments
• Manage a staff of 1-4 team members and perform annual performance and compensation reviews.
• Conduct regular check-ins with staff members to ensure they are effectively working and staying on task.
• Participate on the leadership team, actively engaging in bi-weekly meetings providing updates and insight on the business through a financial lens.
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit
• Acts as the change champion for the accounting department
• Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
• Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as experience with accounting software and ABC general ledgers
• Analytical skills with particular attention to detail Physical Demands and Work Environment
