Job Summary: The accountant is responsible for managing the transaction accounting and asset accounting functions of the organization. This includes overseeing general ledger management, accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The role also involves assisting the Director of Finance with budgeting and reporting, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee all daily accounting operations, including general ledger functions, accounts payable, payroll, asset accounting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and comply with relevant laws, regulations, and Joint Commission accreditation standards.
- Assist the Director of Finance in preparing the annual budget and generate budget variance reports.
- Safeguard the organizations assets by implementing effective internal controls and conducting internal audits.
- Manage cash disbursements through a well-organized accounts payable system.
- Prepare and submit periodic financial statements to the Director of Finance.
- Gather, collate, and report key statistics through the effective use of accounting information systems.
- Provide insights for strategic financial planning and identify opportunities to improve fiscal sustainability.
- Assist in preparing the annual Medicare cost report.
- File and report all federal, state, and local taxes in compliance with deadlines.
- Prepare documentation for annual internal and external audits.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software and computer applications.
- Strong skills in using calculators and performing complex financial calculations.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Expertise in reconciling system-generated documents to source records.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
- Ability to start immediately.
- Valid drivers license.
- Minimum of 5 year of work experience in Accounts Payable (AP).
- Minimum of 5 year of work experience in Account Management.
- Minimum of 5 year of experience in the Hospital and Healthcare industry.
- Minimum of 5 year of experience handling financial transactions.
- Experience working in an onsite office environment.
