Our manufacturing client in Mesquite is looking for a Senior Cost Accountant with a strong cost accounting background. You will work under the direction and in conjunction with the Business Unit Controller.

Requirements:
Our manufacturing client in Mesquite is looking for a Senior Cost Accountant with a strong cost accounting background. You will work under the direction and in conjunction with the Business Unit Controller.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ACCOUNTING AND REPORTING
- Prepare and support month-end and year-end close processes including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for the Balance Sheet and general and cost accounting areas.
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets and depreciation expenses. Oversee, support and review CAPEX Process including reporting and analysis as required by the Controller and Corporate.
- Inventory Absorption—Develop reporting of inventory absorption as change in labor and overhead in in WIP and Finished Goods between periods.
- Intercompany Profit in Inventory – Develop reporting of Intercompany profit in inventory
- Calculate slow moving and obsolescence (E&O) reserve to be reviewed by the management team
- Provide information for the Business Unit President and Controller on financial statements and operating budget analysis. Prepare month-end reports as assigned for internal financial reporting distribution.
- Receive and resolve inquiries on revenue, costs of sales, operating expenses and inventory from internal department managers in a prompt and thorough manner.
- Assist in preparing financial budgets, forecasts and business analyses.
- Generate reporting on production scrap, rework and warranties.
PRODUCT COSTING
- Develop comprehensive understanding of product cost modules within PLEX, and how product cost is reflected in financial statements.
- Develop and execute an internal audit process to ensure accuracy of bill of materials, labor allocation, and rates/factors used to allocate manufacturing costs.
- Coordinates product cost process including calculating, reviewing and analyzing machine and labor hours, overhead costs and allocations, production rates, raw material costs and manufacturing process changes. This would require working with multiple departments, organizations and/or individuals to determine the proper metrics.
- Maintains a balance of actual labor entries to time clock reporting, facilitating communication with production supervisors.
- Report on production variances, investigate root causes and develop corrective action plans.
VALUE CREATION / PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Be an active leader in bringing value through continual improvement to the organization as it pertains to inventory and expense reporting processes.
- Cost-Volume-Profit analysis
- Special project assignments. Conduct and report results of all analysis projects assigned by the CFO, Controller, Business Unit Presidents and/or self-initiative on a timely basis with proper conclusions and recommendations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, or Accounting or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of cost accounting principles and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in PLEX or similar ERP systems – NetSuite, Sage Intaact, SAP S/4 Hana - is required.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (GAAP/IFRS), and regulatory requirements.
