Position Overview: CME seeks a motivated Senior Accountant to manage our financial data and ensure compliance. In this role, you'll oversee accounts payable and receivable, handle daily financial entries, reconciliations, and verify transactions across ledgers. Responsibilities include monthly financial reporting, general ledger entries, journal entries, recording payments, assisting with bank reconciliations, and preparing reports, spreadsheets, and KPIs.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and maintain financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Manage the general ledger, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable operations.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in tax planning and preparation.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with external auditors for annual audits and government personnel.
- Report generation through COGNOS & Excel.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Provide financial analysis to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Document financial procedures, policies, and processes for accuracy and consistency.
- Train and mentor junior accounting staff.
Experience & Skills:
- 3+ years of accounting experience, including financial reporting and general ledger oversight.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
- Experience leading and training accounting staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proficiency with accounting software.
- AA/AS or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
