About the Job
Flint Hills Resources is seeking a Senior Accounting Lead to join our CFO organization in Wichita, KS. This unique role combines Tax and GAAP financial reporting and analysis, providing opportunities to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking and communication skills, a passion for financial reporting and analysis, an economic focus, and keen attention to detail. Additionally, this individual will play a significant mentorship role within the team and may have the opportunity to supervise and lead others.
What You Will Do
- Prepare US GAAP financial statements and support audit preparations.
- Review income tax provision processes for compliance with ASC 740.
- Review weekly estimates to ensure accuracy of forecasted tax impacts.
- Communicate results to key stakeholders, considering business operations and key drivers.
- Collaborate with tax, accounting, and business teams to optimize tax positions.
- Identify and implement waste elimination and transformation opportunities for organizational value.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience in financial reporting, tax accounting, or accounting related roles
- Demonstrated ability to manage large volumes of data from multiple systems and use advanced tools to perform analysis and develop a point of view
- Strong multitasking skills and agility in handling various projects
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Experience leading a team, mentoring others, or leading projects and initiatives
- Experience presenting financial concepts to diverse audiences, effectively engaging stakeholders, and partnering with others to bridge gaps and solve problems
- Experience with Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, or other data automation platforms
- Knowledge of ASC740 principles including income tax provisions, effective tax rates, deferred tax balances, valuation allowances, etc.
