About the Role
Primary responsibilities for the Senior Accounting Manager include supervision of the monthly close process, monthly, quarterly, and annual billings to clients for services provided, billing reimbursements from clients, collection of accounts receivable, supervising accounts payable, payroll, monthly reporting, annual preparation of a budget, assist in the annual tax return preparation and all treasury administration. The Senior Accounting Manager will also be part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the accounting department, overseeing all processes, systems, and personnel.
- Manage and mentor our accounting team with professionalism, thoughtfulness, respect, care, and empathy.
- Implement, document, and maintain effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Formalize our accounting policies and create well-defined processes and systems to produce and document support for journal entries.
- Supervise all accounts payable and allocations of costs incurred on behalf of multiple entities.
- Supervise the medical billing team to ensure all services are properly billed on a timely basis.
- Independently initiate our first financial audit, including producing financial statements and footnotes.
- Implement a cloud-based ERP system and make other systems recommendations to improve our productivity, efficiency, accuracy, and quality.
- Manage all tax-related workstreams including annual and quarterly filings.
- Work with a high degree of independence, energy, intensity, urgency, and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting.
- 3+ years of broad-based accounting experience at a Big 4 or mid-tier firm.
- Plus 4+ years at a high growth VC or PE-backed company, with demonstrated levels of increased responsibility.
- Experience with a first-time audit and ERP implementation.
- Healthcare services experience preferred but not required.
- CPA preferred but not required.
Education / Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting.
- CPA preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Possibility of minimal travel, 1-2 times per year as needed.
