We are seeking a Senior AFSIM Analyst to help us evaluate and define solutions to enable the U.S. military to conduct strike warfare and air combat operations in complex operational environments. You'll be joining a diverse and hardworking team that supports a wide-range of military sponsors and analyzes critical and challenging technical problems. As a Senior AFSIM Analyst you will...
- Develop, evaluate, and analyze models and concepts of employment for ground breaking technologies such as advanced air platforms, strike weapons, and integrated multi-domain effects.
- Collaborate with our software development teams on improving our customized tools, including designing efficient representations for large datasets, testing accurate interactions across interdependent algorithms, and automating production analysis pipelines.
- Work with a team of analysts who will benefit from your experience, and senior engineers with whom you will guide the direction of analysis.
- Have opportunities to engage in independent research projects that encourage creative solutions and reward independent initiative.
Qualifications
You will meet our minimum qualification for the job if you...
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related area.
- Have demonstrated excellence working with AFSIM performing modeling, simulation, and analysis.
- Have knowledge in Air or Strike Warfare domains.
- Can work effectively in a highly collaborative environment and communicate sophisticated ideas directly with government civilians, military officers, and other contractors.
- Have strong scripting and programming skills with any of the following languages: Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or JAVA
- Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
You’ll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
- Have a Master's or PhD degree in a technical field listed above.
- Have experience using other mission-level analysis tools such as Brawler, Suppressor, JIMM, or EADSIM.
- Have experience leading analysis teams performing mission-level analysis and providing mentoring and training to staff members.
- Have an active Top-Secret security clearance.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
