HJF is seeking a Senior Architect to be involved in undertaking a strategic approach to tie in improving and maintaining our systems with our long-term objectives, while aligning with our technological framework. The forward-thinking, proactive individual in this role is constantly monitoring and adopting developments in the technological field to keep our enterprise at the forefront of the IT industry, upholding our standards, and meeting emerging business requirements. This position will be in support of Office of the Chief Information Officer and reports to the Chief Technology Officer.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
Responsibilities:- Evaluate all business requirements and come up with solutions in the form of products or services and actively lead the technical vision to success. May include business development activities related to client support.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals and business stakeholders to complete projects and meet objectives, while balancing budgetary considerations, timelines, and system performance.
- Evaluate software and hardware solutions for potential acquisition, providing expert advice based on cost, technological stability, and business alignment.
- Monitor advancements in technology to ensure that solutions are continuously improved, supported, and are up-to-date with industry and company standards, as well as emerging business requirements.
- Lead design and testing of business continuity and disaster planning methodologies.
- Ensure all systems and network infrastructure are properly documented.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or similar field.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive understanding of architectural standards and frameworks, software and hardware integration, and complex IT infrastructures.
- Strong proficiency in network and systems engineering, implying a broad knowledge of designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable, and reliable networks and systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership and project management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively explain complex IT concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to stay informed about the latest developments in the IT industry and translate those changes into business strategies.
- Experience designing and implementing cloud strategies using cloud and hybrid cloud frameworks.
- Knowledge of data science, biomedical, bioinformatics and digital health technology.
Licenses and Certifications
- Vendor training/certification preferred (e.g. Cisco CCNA) but not required.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
Compensation
- The annual salary range for this position is $120,600-$185,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
