We are seeking a Senior Associate Attorney with tangible litigation experience and strong trial skills to join our growing team in Chicago, Illinois. This is a unique opportunity to specialize in transportation and maritime law, focusing on representing trucking brokers on behalf of insurance carriers. Ideal candidates will come from a background in Personal Injury (PI), Insurance, Catastrophic Injury, or even Criminal Defense. We will provide training specific to our practice area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and litigate cases related to transportation and maritime law, with a primary focus on trucking brokers and insurance carriers.
- Participate in trial preparation, including drafting motions, discovery, depositions, and representing clients in court.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys in developing case strategies and providing legal counsel.
- Direct client interaction and manage relationships with trucking brokers, insurance carriers, and other stakeholders.
- Take on an increasing leadership role within the firm, with the potential to lead cases and mentor junior attorneys.
- Plan to succeed the practice as senior partners approach retirement, with the opportunity to transition into a shareholder role.
Qualifications:
- Tangible litigation experience and proven trial experience (background in PI, Insurance, Catastrophic Injury, or Criminal Defense is ideal).
- Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage a full caseload independently while working collaboratively with the team.
- Interest in transitioning to transportation and maritime law and willingness to learn the specifics of the practice area.
- Expected billable hours: 1,650 annually.
- Long-term commitment to growing with the firm and eventually taking on an ownership role.
