Position Description:
As a Senior Associate on our Portfolio Accounting team, you will be responsible for partnering with the leaders of our portfolio company teams on their day-to-day finance and accounting functions. You will work hand-in-hand with their operations teams who will rely on you to think strategically and provide business insights that drive maximum value.
This role is am excellent opportunity for someone wanting to transition from public accounting (performing audits and compliance checks) to engaging in more dynamic, hands-on financial management. In this role, you will be directly involved in managing and analyzing the financial health of portfolio companies and gain in-depth experience with day-to-day financial operations and strategic decision-making.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform month-end close duties including, but not limited to: recording, reconciling, and analyzing general ledger accounts and transactions which drive the monthly management and investor and compliance reporting requirements
- Perform daily operational functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury activities
- Research, document, and maintain accounting policies as new accounting issues emerge and deploy appropriate policies with portfolio management as needed.
- Coordinate with external audit team and assist with annual financial statement audits and tax compliance
- Develop and implement process and system improvements, where appropriate, to capture value through improving efficiency, leveraging technology, and reducing waste
- Assist with financial due diligence procedures for our portfolio companies’ acquisition strategy and targets
- Execute the post-acquisition financial integration process for our portfolio companies’ acquisition targets
- Tackle ad hoc projects as needed
Required Skills:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (preferred, but not required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Three to Five years of accounting experience, with two years of public accounting work experience
- Excellent and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to excel in multi-tasking and participating in, and coordinating, new projects as they arise
