About the Job
We are seeking a full-time Senior Aviation Programs Engineer/Manager in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading successful conception, development, and/or application of sophisticated avionics systems for large, complex programs with broad market capability, by leading product definition and creation of technical product proposals, identifying, documenting, and coordinating customer and regulatory system requirements and scalable system design.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Leads product definition and creation of technical product proposals for large and complex OEM programs with broad market applicability and leverages resources across multiple groups
- May serve in a leadership capacity to identify, document, and coordinate technical aspects of new interfaces / functionality in order to support specific customer requirements for implementations that can be scalable across multiple integrated flight deck programs or retrofit product lines
- Contributes to the creation or modification of system-level processes and best practices for program execution
- Acts as a subject matter expert in multiple subsystems and assists with educating less experienced team members
- Reviews technical product proposals and related documentation in response to customer request
- Independently performs technical market research and analysis in support of product definition and/or business development initiatives
- May act as program lead on a large and complex program spanning multiple resources across different groups
- May serve as primary coordinator for internal resources to support customer executive review
- Defines and/or develops tools that span multiple projects or programs
- Creates and develops aircraft-level certification test plans
- Provides reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem-solving techniques
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Demonstrates knowledge in one or more of the following technical areas:
- Systems Integration
- System Safety
- System Requirements
- Demonstrates proficient skill in conducting in-depth system testing and troubleshooting through detailed knowledge of the system and use of available test tools
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of aircraft specific configuration files if required for assigned program role
- Exhibits a high-level of organization, structure, and autonomy in all program management activities
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
- Broad technical knowledge and skills in one or more areas of avionics systems and product development
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Pilot’s License
- Garmin Integrated Flight Deck experience
