Job Summary
The Senior Business Development Specialist (SBDS) is responsible for identifying opportunities for strategic growth of the health system across the greater region. The SBDS works in coordination with the Executive Director of Strategic Business Development to prioritize and drive strategic initiatives and updates NGHS leadership of any new or changing market intelligence by continuously monitoring competitor and market activity. The SBDS serves as an expert in physician outreach and ensures execution of the department's sales and performance goals. The SBDS serves in a Lead role and provides training to new hires and assists Business Development Specialists in their performance through guidance and feedback.

Strong physician sales experience and ability to plan and execute physician outreach plans.
Exceptional communication and relationship building skills, especially with physicians, hospital administrators and senior leaders.
Ability to understand and assimilate clinical information from various types of providers in order to form outreach plans and communicate strategic differentials to regional providers.
Must possess data analytics skills in order to analyze market leakage and prioritize physician outreach plans.
Ability to organize and executive multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
Ability to coach team members effectively when not in a direct supervisory role to ensure successful department results
Ability to effectively navigate across the health system, regional healthcare network and community to remove barriers, enlist resources and execute initiatives.
Must possess knowledge of regional market and ability to gain, analyze, synthesize and effectively communicate market intelligence.
Ability to appropriately handle confidential communication from multiple sources.
Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively follow up and close the loop with key stakeholders.
Proven mentor and leadership capabilities.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Develops sales and outreach plans to achieve identified business goals, supporting the organization's highest level initiatives. Tracks and reports performance regularly to ensure success. Uses market intelligence software to identify market leakage to best prioritize outreach efforts.
Works directly with service line leaders and other departments within the Strategy Division to develop and execute service line strategies for the region - identifying business growth opportunities, appropriate volume targets, opportunities to grow market share, etc.
Works closely with regional hospitals to support transfer of patients for tertiary needs as well as supporting local provision of appropriate services to keep patients close to home. Coordinates as needed between the Care Traffic Control Center, regional hospitals and NGHS physicians to ensure continuity of care for shared patients.
SBDS is an integral part of developing and supporting new employed physicians. He/she will help to ensure a smooth transition into NGHS with development plans to acquire and grow market share over the course of the first year and as needed. SBDS will work closely with Administrative Directors, Practice Managers, and PR to help physicians reach their volume goals. SBDS will support and coach new specialist the first year of practice to assist in referral development and the success of their practice.
Works closely with regional EMS providers as well as EMS outreach professionals at NGHS to facilitate efficient transfer of patients to NGHS facilities for care.
Plans and executes outreach events as necessary, including provider-to-provider events and community screening and educational events.
Identifies operational and referral issues and brings together key stakeholders to effectively solve problems. Audits hardwiring of process improvements to ensure continued service excellence.
Develops strong relationships with providers throughout the region and identifies practice affiliation and/or acquisition options to expand networks and increase alignment.
Stays on the forefront of unique physician alignment opportunities, identifying business opportunities for the system.
Provides mentorship and leadership to Business Development Specialists to ensure alignment of work across the department and achievement of department goals. Assists the Executive Director with orientation of new BDS employees.
Works in partnership with the Strategic Planning department to develop the regional physician manpower plan. Key responsibility is maintaining the current regional physician manpower database and corresponding alignment to NGHS
Attends key service line and senior leadership meetings as a representative of the Regional Network Development team to help inform strategic business decisions.
