Job Description
As an Senior Certified Petroleum Testing Technician you will be responsible for conducting routine inspections and testing of underground storage tanks to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards. This role requires continues travel throughout all serviceable territories within the Southeastern United States. This role involves using specialized equipment to detect leaks, measure tank integrity, and monitor associated piping systems. As a Senior Technician you will document findings, report any discrepancies, and perform necessary maintenance or repairs to prevent environmental contamination. Daily tasks also include coordinating with site managers, following strict safety protocols, and maintaining detailed records of all inspections and tests conducted. You will also be responsible for the training of younger technicians, scheduling services with clients, maintaining a tracking system for parts database for each truck, assisting with the upkeep and continuing education of all technicians.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform annual and triennial testing requirements on UST facilities across the state, including but not limited to: line tightness testing, leak detector function checks, overfill prevention, operability checks, release detection equipment testing, tank tightness, sump integrity testing, hydrostatic spill bucket testing, ect.
- Identify and diagnose issues with UST equipment through visual inspection and testing.
- Attend training classes, both in person and online, to test for required certifications.
- Completion and submittal of daily testing documents and inspection logs by 8 am next morning.
- Drive a company work truck to client job sites, up to 250 miles or more a day.
Skill Requirements:
- Must have good electrical and mechanical aptitude; the ability to work and troubleshoot problems independently.
- Be able to learn, understand and implement State Regulatory requirements.
- Must have excellent communication skills - written and verbal; ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with team members and clients.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems, email, scanning, wi-fi, etc.
- An eye for details, being thorough.
- Must be able to bend, kneel and lift up to 70lbs, the ability to be on your feet all day.
- Required Education and Experience:
- High School or General Education Diploma (GED)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of progressive experience in a petroleum field testing or equivalent position
- Current HAZWOPER certification
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Able to work occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Travel:
- Out-of-town travel and stays are required. Travel is roughly 75% of the job.
