Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering design and consulting support to the management and operating contractors for US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories. Specifically, we support the DOE Environmental Management Directorate as well as the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories and sites. What does this mean? You can be a part of multi-discipline design teams supporting projects cleaning up the environmental damage associated with the legacy nuclear weapons production complex and/or preserving our country’s nuclear deterrent. Sargent & Lundy’s personnel design facilities, systems, and equipment that treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste as well as systems that safely handle and process nuclear material. This position will offer you the opportunity to work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams to use your creativity and innovation to develop 3D models of civil grading and structures to produce civil drawing deliverables within CAD software.

• This position will offer you the opportunity to work with multi-disciplined engineering and design project teams in developing civil layout drawings in a 3-D model
• Challenging assignments that include all phases of civil site plans, grading design, including roads, ditches, drainage ponds, finish surfacing plans, and permanent fencing plans, as well as investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of civil design issues
• Independently and as a member of a design team, interpret and coordinate topographical data to plan and execute civil design deliverables
• Participate in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of an integrated 2D/3D civil design model, which may include the following:
• Civil site plans
• Underground piping (stormwater drainage, building water supply, sanitary drainage, chemical drainage, lift stations)
• Building entryways (ramps, stairways)
• Erosion control plans (erosion control fencing)
• Traffic control plans (traffic signs, roadway markers/lines)
• Parking lots
• Provide support to other designers and project team members throughout all engineering and design business units in order to ensure a complete and timely design

Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.

Essential skills and experience:

• Must be able to pass a U.S. Government security clearance check
• Associates Degree from an accredited institution in a related field
• A minimum of ten years of professional experience converting the designs of engineers and architects into technical drawings or equivalent education and experience
• Proficiency with design software tools in executing 2D drawings
• Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the Civil site design process

Valued but not required skills and experience:

• Experience in the review of civil layout drawings for all phases of grading, regrading, and final grading
• CAD certificate
• CAD Software skills in the following

• Autodesk Civil
• Autodesk AutoCAD
• Bentley MicroStation
• Autodesk Navisworks
• ArcGIS/Globalmapper

$108,000 - $129,000
