Senior Cloud Application Architect - Hybrid - cyberThink, Inc

Job Description: 
As a Cloud Application Architect, you will leverage your expertise in AWS, microservices, React or Angular UI, and advanced databases like PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch to lead architecture design efforts, guide internal and vendor teams, and ensure successful project delivery. You’ll be accountable for analyzing and designing infrastructure architecture for technology-based business solutions.
 
Key Responsibilities: 

• Lead design and implementation of scalable, secure cloud architectures on AWS, ensuring modular and efficient solutions aligned with best practices. 
• Prepare network and firewall flows and coordinate with AWS Cloud Managed Services, providing thorough documentation. 
• Architect and develop robust Java-based microservices and modular systems to support business requirements. 
• Oversee UI development with React or Angular, ensuring seamless integration with backend services for an optimized user experience. 
• Design and manage PostgreSQL, Document DB, and Elasticsearch databases to maximize performance and reliability. 
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform for automated provisioning and management. 
• Establish and manage cloud monitoring, utilizing AWS tools like CloudWatch to maintain application and infrastructure health and performance. 
• Mentor internal teams and vendors, overseeing design and code reviews to maintain architectural standards. 
• Manage project architecture, design, and development processes to ensure timely, on-budget delivery that meets quality standards. 
• Champion software development best practices, including modular design, code quality, and effective maintenance. 
• Proactively identify and resolve technical issues, applying innovative solutions as needed. 
• Develop and maintain architecture documentation, design specifications, and guidelines for ongoing and future enhancements. 
• Administer Linux/Unix systems, including configuration and scripting as needed. 

 
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:

• 10+ years in IT software architecture and development, with significant experience in AWS, Java microservices, and modern UI frameworks (React or Angular). 
• Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL, Document DB, and Elasticsearch for complex data modeling and database management. 
• Proficient in IaC tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform. 
• Experienced with cloud monitoring tools and practices, particularly AWS CloudWatch. 
• Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding technical teams and managing complex projects. 
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to technical challenges. 
• Deep knowledge of best practices in software development, including modular design, code quality, and maintenance. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (advanced degrees or certifications are a plus). 

 
Desired Skills: 

• Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Puppet and Ansible. 
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell). 
• Experience with cloud-native design, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and serverless architectures. 
• Knowledge of software modularization strategies for system scalability. 
• BMC Control-M for job scheduling and administration is a plus. 
• Experience with Teradata MDM is advantageous.

 
 
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $60.00 to $85.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
