About the Job
The Sr. Cloud Engineer role is part of Johnson & Johnson public cloud engineering organization. In this role you will be part of the Azure cloud engineering team and drive technical solution, software design, security policies, compliance as code, and operational optimization. The candidate should be passionate about developing cloud automations, patterns, associated security and compliance guardrails, and automations to meet application hosting requirements. Driving the maturity of the Azure service, the Sr. Engineer is responsible for creating reference architectures, solution designs, roadmaps, backlog management and value realization of new features. This role will actively engage with server, database and application teams as well as Azure external specialists and forums to remain current on industry trends. The Azure Cloud Engineering team uses a combination of cloud-native services and custom built software to deliver and support cloud capacities.
As a trusted leader in the Cloud Engineering team, your role will be uniquely positioned to work collaboratively with strategic external partners, global leaders and executives across the business and technology to passionately understand our technology needs, define and shape public cloud automation to align with technology needs and improve the overall reliability and performance of services offered. This leader will have the unique opportunity to grow and scale a diverse, agile team with the talent and technical expertise to identify, launch, and iterate the next-generation of products in our portfolio.
The role is for an individual with strong technical background in Azure public cloud, software engineering, product development, microservices, Python REST API based automations, CI/CD deployment pipelines, and multi-cloud solutions in Azure, AWS, GCP and on-premises cloud. The qualified candidate should be an agile team player who is able to lead and participate on cross-functional teams, gain alignment and drive decision making with CLOUDx and application teams.
Responsibilities:
- Drive and develop infrastructure automation features for Azure and multi cloud footprint.
- Present business case development for infrastructure and services delivering automations to: enforce security configurations in Azure cloud, react to newly created, destroyed and updated cloud resources.
- Develop the full lifecycle of a new feature, from concept to production. You will establish feature requirements, value and key performance indicators. Shape technical architectures. Translate requirements into stories and tasks. Build test cases, deliver stories and lead feature demos.
- Develop REST APIs in python using BDD methodology and implement public cloud security guardrails.
- Once the feature is live, the value will be reviewed for improvements.
- Setup intelligent automation projects crafted to reduce operating expenses and improve efficiencies.
- Partner with application teams and drive resolution of sophisticated technical problems across infrastructure and application stack.
- Lead real-time troubleshooting sessions and manage DevOps issues and product enhancements.
- Act as the voice of the customer within the squad to ensure the squad builds features based on business and technical needs.
- Ensure that the platform / features meets relevant security, privacy & compliance standards.
- Setup personal development plans in Azure and hybrid-cloud infrastructure.
- Groom Jira features and stories to improve reliability and reduce support incidents for global infrastructure.
- Facilitate release planning, sprint planning and demos with customers.
- Drive selection of solution options working with the platform group engineers to assess tech elements of the solution prior to user testing and balance tech debt with feature delivery.
- Collaborate to ensure all partners (engineers, designers, scrum master, analysts) to deliver a prioritized backlog of work tied to the platform roadmap activities, design, interdependencies and timelines.
- Actively participate in all squad ceremonies; leads and optimizes the flow of value using various tools and reporting cadence.
- A bachelor's degree is required.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in Azure infrastructure engineering.
- 2 years hands-on development experience in Python REST APIs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to understand, derive and trace value of features.
- Comfortable public speaker and addressing small audiences.
- Self-starter with positive relationship abilities and customer service skills.
- Technology thought leadership in the latest advances in the market, trends, and modern technology frameworks (e.g. Agile, DevOps).
- Strong product technology background; strong understanding of platform thinking and global experience delivering global platforms while tailoring for regional/local markets.

Anticipated Salary Range: $99,000- $170,200
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
