About the Job
Our client, a dynamic and fast-growing credit union, is seeking an experienced Collection Specialist to join their team. In this role, you will handle all types and stages of delinquent accounts, including Consumer Loans, Mortgages, Home Equity Loans, HELOCs, Student Loans, Credit Cards and overdrawn accounts. The ideal candidate will be goal-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team, and have proven aptitude in resolving late stage collections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and maintain daily work queue; create and utilize reports to track loss mitigation data
- Update system records accurately within multiple platforms
- Handle inquiries concerning delinquent accounts and provide counseling to members
- Research and audit member records to determine missed payments or discrepancies
- Negotiate repayment terms with members to bring accounts current while maintaining compliance and excellent service
- Propose appropriate loss mitigation solutions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 4 years of credit union or bank consumer collections experience
- Minimum 2 years of loss mitigation experience, including loan underwriting ability
- Proficiency with MS Office and prior experience with financial institution core and collection software systems
- Thorough knowledge of and compliance with FDCPA, FCRA, RESPA, NCUA regulations, bankruptcy laws
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented problem solver with critical analysis and sound judgment capabilities
- Flexible to work rotating office/WFH hybrid schedule and additional hours as needed
The position is currently hybrid with 3 rotating days per week in-office and 2 days remote, including some Saturday shifts. Dedicated home office setup with high-speed internet is required for WFH and equipment will be provided. The client offers competitive compensation with an estimated salary range of $54,500 - $64,000, plus excellent benefits.
