About the Job
An establish/growing Boston-based tech firm is seeking a talented Senior Construction Accountant to join our finance team. As a Senior Construction Accountant, you will play a crucial role in overseeing financial operations related to our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction accounting, a strong understanding of industry-specific regulations, and exceptional analytical skills. The right candidate will have growth and promotion opportunities including crossing over to other parts of the company.
Senior Construction Accountant is responsible for managing the accounts of various construction projects by creating detailed budget forecasts, overseeing supplier contracts & verifying monthly invoices or payment requisitions and consolidating them into MMI's monthly AIA Requisitions for each project and verifying other financial information provided by 3rd Party contractors. This is an office-required position with possibility of remote 1 day per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborating with project managers to develop a detailed, cost-effective budget for projects.
Preparing all AIA requisitions & "one-off" invoices for all projects and processing all purchase orders and payments to vendors for Owner-Purchased materials & supplies/small tools.
Preparing monthly cash flow budgets and adjusting them to reflect scope changes as needed.
Keeping a record of all project finances for internal/external auditing and tax purposes.
Preparing cost analyses by interpreting projects' financial data and information.
Reporting any financial risks and budgetary discrepancies to management for review.
Researching market trends and projecting construction-related price increases/decreases.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Responsible for information security by appropriately preserving the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of company information assets in accordance with the company's information security program.
Qualifications and Skills
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in private or public accounting, with recent relevant experience in the construction industry strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of construction cost accounting and related financial procedures.
Solid analytical and mathematical skills and fluency with Excel.
Familiarity with accounting software, such as QuickBooks and Paycor.
Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
