ERM is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable Senior Consultant, Climate Change. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to play a key role working with an expert consulting team on interesting climate advisory projects for Fortune 500 and privately held clients. This position can be a remote, hybrid or fully on-site, based on the location and preference of our selected candidate.

Responsibilities
- Serve as technical support and task manager working with clients in decarbonization strategy planning and implementation, and evaluation of climate change risks and opportunities.
- Perform research and quantitative modeling on power markets, energy markets, energy transition technologies, climate policy design, green power purchasing, carbon offset markets.
- Perform quantitative analyses using both standard Excel-based tools and more complex modeling platforms. Utilize existing models, repurpose existing models to new tasks, and build new models where necessary.
- Support development of climate change strategy and action planning, and modeling and setting of science-based targets.
- Communicate with clients, ERM teams, and subcontractors (when applicable).
- Mentor junior staff in the proper planning and execution of projects, and in directing or conducting independent technical reviews of deliverable work products.
- Support the general growth and development of ERM’s energy and climate change services.
- Collaborate with other ERM practitioners to execute energy and climate change projects, including participating on teams comprised of energy and climate change professionals from multiple offices globally.
- Collaborate with our Sustainability Strategy & Disclosure services, Digital Services, and other practice areas to provide integrated solutions to our clients.
- Actively support cross selling of other services to existing clients.
Requirements
- Bachelors’ degree in engineering, energy policy, economics, or other relevant disciplines. Master of Science or Masters of Public Policy/ Public Administration preferred.
- 3 years' experience required, 4 years preferred in climate change consulting for power sector clients (utilities, developers, etc.), heavy industry (oil and gas, chemicals, mining, etc.) or a related industry position with technical competence in greenhouse gas emissions accounting, management, and reporting OR less experience combined with vary targeted and advanced academic studies.
- Experience in project management to deliver team results on time and on budget.
- Experience and confidence to lead and grow business in a dynamic market environment.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to think strategically, analyze and synthesize diverse qualitative and quantitative data and information.
- MS Excel expertise required; expertise in programming languages such as Python or R preferred; experience with energy modeling platforms highly desirable.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work well with a range of stakeholders, including diverse project teams and client contacts.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, articulate issues and recommend solutions.
- High-level proficiency in use of Microsoft Office programs. In addition to expertise with complicated Excel formulas, pivot tables, etc., the ability to present information succinctly and visually in PowerPoint is required.
- Excellent communication (written/verbal), strategic thinking, negotiation, presentation, and “people” skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams.

For the Senior Consultant, Climate Change position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $76,177 – $87,055 USD. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
