Job Summary
Coordinate district-wide continuing education programs and courses related to Iowa Department of Transportation Technical Training.
Essential Functions
Establish and manage project budgets, with focus on Iowa Department of Transportation contract. Schedule courses, procure needed resources and locations (including leases) for multi-course certificates. Ensure adherence to applicable college/state/federal/third party accrediting policies/regulations/laws in related subject areas. Administer third party credentialing programs. Schedule recurring enrollment courses and workforce open enrollment training programs at various locations across the state and district. Consult on marketing and recruiting efforts. Recruit, train, mentor trade related faculty. Create course outlines and schedules. Develop and procure training equipment and help faculty create meaningful and measurable objectives. Conduct in classroom evaluations. Deal with student issues, resolve conflicts, complete incident reports, counsel students and faculty, and recommend and implement sanctions.
Respond to proposal requests from businesses/agencies seeking training solutions, typically for longer term-multicourse solutions. Develop requirements, write contracts, project budgets, manage relationships, oversee all aspects of programs. Meet with employers to discuss employee performance/conduct issues and develop interventions to provide maximum opportunity for student success.
Consult and collaborate with DOT to determine needs related to curriculum, competencies, number of classes, instructors, and locations. Attend regional meetings with other states DOTs and colleges/universities to collaborate and ensure compliance with Federal requirements. Evaluate new Technical Training Certificate Program courses for implementation into the TTCP program. Work with the Iowa DOT to create new courses when a needs determined.
Act as the central point of contact for the college for all matters related to DOT Technical Training. Monitor college activities related to programs. Maintain knowledge of current trends and requirements for DOT approved quality programs. Consult on grants, programs, apprenticeship solutions, and college credit and noncredit offerings as solutions for or alternatives to training programs. Engages and collaborates with employers, community partners, and related employment agencies with the intention of developing and expanding programs with an emphasis on college credit and noncredit offerings as training solutions.
Annually review curriculum for 30+ subject areas, assist with updating of course manuals and computerized exam test banks. Maintain test bank. Make decisions related to cancellation of classes, addition of classes, budget, student issues, adjunct faculty issues, schedules, resources, etc. React to issues related to software, hardware, student conflicts, instructor illness or absence.
