We are currently seeking a Senior Control Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and support of process control systems across our refined products and petrochemical pipeline operations. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced engineers to play a pivotal role in optimizing control systems and ensuring safety within energy operations.
Job Description:
As a Senior Control Engineer, you will take charge of the design, configuration, and maintenance of critical process control systems supporting our refined products and petrochemical pipelines. You will be responsible for providing technical support and engineering leadership, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our pipeline infrastructure. This role involves working closely with local operations teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop and optimize control systems that drive operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Control System Design & Support: Lead the design, configuration, and maintenance of process control systems and instrumentation for refined products and petrochemical pipelines.
- PLC and HMI Configuration: Configure PLC systems (such as Allen Bradley Control Logix) and develop HMI applications (including Wonderware Intouch) to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Project Scope & Estimation: Provide technical guidance and support for process control project scope, cost estimates, and system specifications.
- System Optimization & Troubleshooting: Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize process control systems, focusing on loop tuning, system documentation, and safety compliance.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to API, NFPA, ISA, and other relevant safety and operational standards. Ensure process safety systems meet regulatory and operational requirements.
- Collaboration with Operations: Work closely with local operations teams and contractors to ensure successful system integration, testing, and commissioning of control systems.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical lead on process control projects, offering guidance to engineers and technicians, and ensuring systems meet operational requirements.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation, including loop diagrams, control narratives, and system designs to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Emergency Response: Provide on-call support for troubleshooting and resolving critical control system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and operational continuity.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Control Systems, or a related field) is required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting process control systems in storage and pipeline operations (including natural gas, NGLs, and crude oil).
- Consideration will be given to candidates with at least 3 years of relevant experience in process control engineering.
- PLC & HMI Expertise: Expertise in PLC configuration (specifically Allen Bradley Control Logix) and HMI development (including Wonderware Intouch) is required.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of loop tuning, safety systems, documentation standards, and regulatory compliance within the energy sector.
- Process Control Systems: Proven ability to manage process control systems, automation, and instrumentation in pipeline and storage operations.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with operations teams, contractors, and technical staff.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various industrial environments.
- Travel & Availability: Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and provide 24/7 on-call support as required.
