Senior Controls Commissioning Manager
Job summary
As the a Senior Controls Commissioning Manager for our data centre projects, you will oversee the Data Centre Operating System (DCOS) commissioning, Act as DCOS SME for our controls system integrators and DCOS stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration, testing, and operation of our DCOS. You will manage the end-to-end commissioning process, coordinate with stakeholders across various business units, and ensure that our DCOS is delivered to our global standards, including integration into our operational tools, such as our Data Center Infrastructure Monitoring (DCIM) platform. Your role is crucial in delivering a robust and efficient DCOS that meets our operational requirements and supports the overall performance of our data centres.
Responsibilities
Problem Solving
Consistently solves highly complex, cross-functional issues requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve
Implements and makes recommendations for unique system-level enhancements to eliminate potential problems
Tests suitability of components for deployment across multiple sites or projects.
Can troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems not associated with controls
Technical Expertise
Has broad expert knowledge understanding of electrical, fire protection, and HVAC systems design and operation including advanced optimization strategies, deficiencies and the impact of system design choices on controls requirements and costs
Has expert controls system knowledge sufficient to rapidly comprehend new systems
Tests suitability of components or action plans for deployments
Is a subject matter expert to others in and outside of the group
Extensive knowledge of multiple facets of controls engineering
Develops and executes projects
Develop Policy/Methods
Develops policy and procedure documents to further strengthen our DCOS delivery model
Develops, maintains and improves libraries of standardized programming modules, sequences of operations, graphics and reporting tools by providing feedback and consultation to our teams responsible for these libraries
Assess Adherence to Policy
Assures adherence to developed standards and policy through review of documentation
Develops high level reporting / summaries of policy compliance information as required
Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
FAT Planning: Develop and manage FAT plans, including test scripts and checklists as required
Component Verification: Oversee the inspection and testing of DCOS components to ensure compliance with specifications
Documentation: Compile FAT reports, including compliance certificates and test results as required
Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
SAT Execution: Plan and manage the execution of SAT, ensuring proper installation and basic functionality of DCOS hardware and software
Network Setup: Verify network configurations, including IP addressing and VLAN setup
Reporting: Document SAT results and provide preliminary integration test reports
Pre-Functional Testing (PFT)
PFT Planning: Develop plans for calibration, subsystem testing, and preliminary integration
Subsystem Testing: Oversee the testing of individual subsystems controlled by the DCOS
Data Collection Verification: Ensure accurate data logging and alarm setup, providing detailed reports
Functional Performance Testing (FPT)
FPT Coordination: Manage comprehensive testing of DCOS functionalities, including control verification and response testing
Trend Analysis: Analyse data trends to verify DCOS response to operational changes
Test Reporting: Compile detailed reports on end-to-end tests, control strategy validation, and alarm systems
Integrated System Testing (IST)
IST Planning: Develop and manage plans for integrated system testing, including stress and redundancy tests
Integrated Operation Testing: Coordinate tests to ensure seamless DCOS integration with other data centre systems
Final Validation: Document the final validation of DCOS performance, ensuring all criteria are met for handover
DCOS Integration with DCIM
Integration Planning: Develop and execute a detailed plan for the integration of DCOS with the Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platform
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders across various business units to gather requirements and align integration activities
Integration Testing: Manage end-to-end testing of the DCOS-DCIM integration, ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability
Issue Resolution: Identify and address integration challenges, providing timely solutions and updates to stakeholders
Handover and Training
Documentation Preparation: Assist our Cx teams to prepare and deliver operational manuals, training materials, and as-built documentation to data centre staff
Training Delivery: Drive our system integrators to conduct training sessions for data centre staff on DCOS operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Handover Reporting: Compile and present a comprehensive handover report summarizing the commissioning process and final configurations
Qualifications
7+ years of data center commissioning experience preferred
3+ years leadership experience in a mission-critical environment preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering preferred

California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $137,000 to $225,000 per year
Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $124,000 to $204,000 per year
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
