Bosch is seeking a dynamic team member to help support media relations and integrated communications content development across multiple Bosch communication channels. This digitally-minded candidate will be responsible for supporting media relations by creatively sourcing news topics, writing materials for use with news media, researching opportunities, developing messaging and briefing materials, media outreach and planning, and securing and supporting external speaking engagements.
The Senior Corporate Communications Specialist, will be asked to partner with Bosch PR agency support to help drive forward the external communications goals of Bosch by sharing Bosch messages with aligned stakeholder groups. They will also work to translate earned media topics to owned social media channels, working cross-functionally with other members of the corporate communications team.
The candidate will have the opportunity to engage across businesses and topics within the North American region as well as across communications functions in an integrated manner. This position is based in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Responsibilities:
- Track and develop news topics within Bosch by matching business priorities with external relevancy to develop newsworthy external content.
- Review industry news and trends on on-going basis to identify and execute on opportunities for Bosch from an external communications standpoint.
- Develop relationships with news media to understand and advocate for earned media opportunities on behalf of Bosch.
- Develop internal relationships with Bosch experts to support development of written content for external use.
- Write externally-facing press materials including press releases, advisories, articles and more.
- Write internal preparation materials and where needed provide basic media and presentation training to support executive leaders and topical experts for external communications opportunities.
- Track earned media coverage and extend value by translating earned media coverage and externally-facing content into compelling social media posts through written material and supporting visual asset development.
- Work collaboratively with PR agency resources to maximize external communications opportunities.
- Support external facing events such as tradeshows, press conferences and events with content development and vendor management.
- Track and pitch Bosch speakers for external speaking engagements; support development of content leading into event where appropriate.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in role with some communications responsibility.
- 3+ years of experience securing earned media coverage on behalf of an organization.
- Demonstrated examples of writing to support news media interview preparation.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written communications; basic knowledge of AP style; comfort in performing basic copy editing for grammar, punctuation, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Agency experience is preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated understanding of what constitutes newsworthy content and how a newsroom works; maintains and understands a healthy respect for the role of journalism as a third-party.
- An insatiable curiosity to learn new topics by reading and engaging with industry news articles/reports/events and reviewing internal materials to decipher relevant messages and examples for external communication. Work to translate this knowledge into actionable items for Bosch.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Excel.
- General familiarity with social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and measurement tools (Meltwater).
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, including the ability to execute with speed, accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail.
- Desire to work in collaborative and cooperative team environment, virtually and in-person.
- Outstanding judgment and discretion.
- A positive attitude.
