The Senior CT Technologist is responsible for the following:
- Performs routine and advanced imaging examinations in CT on a scheduled and emergency basis.
- Reviews and evaluates requisitions for CT imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for CT examinations.
- Identify patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers.
- Performs basic and advanced imaging analysis as necessary (e.g. 3D).
- Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
- Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develops plan for adjusting to patients' specific needs.
- Explain the examination and is able to answer questions from patient and parents regarding the exam and Radiation exposure, practices ALARA.
- Consistently provides exceptional care and exceptional service.

- Practices High Reliability Training.
- Responds to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
- Identifies, reports and follows up on equipment malfunctions.
- Assists in organizing and maintaining daily operations of section.
- Determines appropriate coding for pre-authorizations as directed.
- Investigates and resolves technical and scheduling problems.
- Performs additional responsibilities as delegated by the Modality Operations Manager, i.e., medication swat, preparing cystogram kits.
- Arranges and coordinates patient scheduling with physicians and other clinical and support staff.
- Works with others to promote and encourage each person’s contribution on the interdisciplinary team toward achieving optimal patient goals and outcomes.
- Serves as a Preceptor for new staff.
- Trains fellows, residents, students and staff in imaging procedures and techniques.
- Trains CT staff in imaging examinations and dose reduction techniques.
- Acts as a mentor to less experienced staff and helps with new departmental /hospital initiatives.
- Participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
- Completes all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Complies with ETU.
- Complies with HIPAA regulations.
- Practices the 6 core values of the Hospital; excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork and accountability.
- Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.
- Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.
- 3 years of experience as a CT technologist.
- RT/CT registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).@@Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT certification.@@BLS certification.
- RT/CT Massachusetts State License
- Associates Degree;Allied Health
