About the Job
Key Responsibilities included, but are not limited to:
• Develop and implement cybersecurity measures to protect systems and networks against unauthorized access, exploitation, and data exfiltration.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies.
• Design, develop, and implement security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
• Monitor network traffic and system logs for anomalies and suspicious activity.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats and trends, and implement new security measures as necessary.
• Work with other members of the cybersecurity team to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
• Provide guidance and training to other members of the IT team on cybersecurity best practices.
• Work with third-party vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements.
• Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and remediation of cybersecurity incidents.
• Adhere to best practices and processes around work assignments, project management and quality of output.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or related field.
• 6+ years Information Technology and Cybersecurity engineering experience, with a focus on infrastructure security and incident response.
• 1+ years' experience with Splunk: creating dashboards and threat hunting.
• 1+ years Linux experience
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
• Sound understanding and knowledge of DoE cybersecurity regulations and guidelines, including Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST and ISO.
• Strong writing and communication skills to communicate to senior government personnel.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in order to operate within the DoE environment.
• Experience with cybersecurity tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability scanners.
• Interpersonal skills and experience supporting decision making for senior DoE leadership.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, including network security, encryption, authentication, and access control.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to master other computer applications quickly.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic work environment and ability to coordinate and perform multiple assignments.
• Experience operating in a RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment preferred.
• Experience with Palo Alto, Tenable, and RedSeal preferred.
• Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, or GIAC, are preferred.
• Experience with Cloud Security is a plus.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
