We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager to lead and oversee Data Center Operations. As the Senior Data Center Manager - Traveler, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of multi-campus data center facilities, ensuring that all operations are running smoothly and efficiently. What you'll do on a typical day:
- Travelling up to 90% you will manage and lead teams of data center operations staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the data center to ensure maximum uptime and reliability, including guaranteeing completion of all critical operational requirements such as OnTime Rack Placement, Tray Population, Rx/Spares support, etc.
- Establish and meet site objectives in the areas of financial performance, safety, quality and customer service while maintaining compliance with all applicable internal and external policies
- Maintain high standards of operational efficiency and ensure compliance with specified contract metrics
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including network engineering, security, and facilities management, to ensure seamless integration of data center operations with overall business objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with client standards and best practices
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts including equipment procurement, maintenance, and service agreements
- Ensure strict adherence to data center security protocols and physical access controls
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to data center operations, including inventory management, change management, and incident response procedures
- Continuously evaluate and improve data center operations infrastructure to optimize performance, reliability, and efficiency
- Participate in capacity planning and forecasting to support the company's growth and scalability requirements
- Serve as point of contact for data center-related escalations, providing timely response and resolution as needed
At a minimum, you'll need:
- 5 years of managerial experience in a technical environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and computerized scanner equipment
- Availability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends
- Ability to travel up to 90%
- Bachelor's or master's degree
- Experience managing a Data Center
- Experience in Site start-ups, take-overs, and operational recoveries
- Experience in supply chain management in a distribution environment
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in Third-party Logistics (3PL)
- Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) knowledge and experience
- Experience in an AS9100 or ISO environment
- Proven successful employee engagement and retention strategies with the ability to inspire and motivate the workforce
- Working knowledge of financial accounting, including developing and/or managing a P&L
- Solid problem-solving techniques and statistical analysis skills
- Strong skills monitoring and enforcing safety measures and policies for internal team members and external vendors, including coaching to ensure a safe work environment
