Data Analysis:   The Data Engineer designs and implements processes and layouts for complex, large-scale data sets used for modeling, data mining, and research purposes. This person is expected to maintain a data knowledgebase (e.g., data dictionary).

 

Business Insights:  The Data Engineer empowers business partners to turn information into action by building tools, developing protocols, and defining metrics for forward-looking data collection and analysis. The Senior level performs assigned tasks under minimal guidance from supervisor.

 

This position is hybrid on-site only with working locations in Louisville, KY;  Allentown, PA ; Providence, RI.

Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of complex assignments (may lead some projects) and analyzes and solves complex problems in the below areas.

1. Data Design
   1. Assist data architect in translating business requirements into design specifications
   2. Create source mappings, business definitions, measures, dimensions, visualization designs, test plans, and test cases
   3. Conduct data studies and data discovery around new data sources or new uses for existing data sources
   4. Interpret and analyze data and generate reports as needed to understand flow of data
   5. Apply quantitative methods to derive actionable insights and outcomes from data
2. Data Management:
   1. Conduct data studies and data discovery around new data sources or new uses for existing data sources
   2. Assist in documenting meta data information including data types, lengths, and conversion functions
   3. Assist in analyzing and researching new and existing products, procedures, and/or workflows for data management
   4. Execute activities pertaining to end-to-end data set identification, development, and implementation according to the guidance from Data Scientists
   5. Support data collection, integration and retention requirements based on the input collected with the business
   6. Gather and process data from the Transmission, Distribution, Customer Service, and EU Service functions, and transform them into data products
   7. Implement statistical data quality procedures around new data sources
3. Data Integration:
   1. Develop and modify functions, programs, routines, and stored procedures to export, transform, and load data
   2. Resolve integration and data mapping issues and discrepancies as objectives change
   3. Assist in resolving data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs)
4. Master Data Management:
   1. Execute on all aspects of MDM architecture (MDM data model, SAP MDM, MDM tools, MDM data integration, master data quality, MDM operations, master data security, )
   2. Maintain data warehouse performance by identifying and resolving data conflicts
   3. Adhere to data / information quality practices
   4. Conduct data cleaning to rid the system of old, unused data, or duplicate data for better management and quicker access
   5. Ensures quality of master data in key systems, as well as development and documentation of processes with other functional data owners to support ongoing maintenance and data integrity
5. Data Governance:
   1. Adhere to data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure the enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable
6. May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role.  This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service.  This role may necessitate the need to work after hours, outside of your normal schedule.
7. The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site remotely or a combination of both.  Assigned Work location may change.  In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

 

 

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related work experience OR 8 years of related work experience
2. Awareness of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices
3. Awareness of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
4. Awareness of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
5. Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks
6. Highly self-motivated and directed with attention to detail
7. Easily adapts to changing circumstances
8. Understands business goals and strategic priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience supporting fast-changing business organizations
