The Senior Data Modeler will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our data models and architecture to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. This individual will have a strong background in data modeling, a deep understanding of data warehousing principles, and hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services.
Responsibilities:- Design and develop robust, scalable, and efficient data models for various data processing and analytics needs.
- Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data models.
- Optimize and tune data models to ensure high performance and scalability.
- Implement and manage data warehousing solutions on Microsoft Azure, leveraging services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, and more.
- Conduct business analysis to understand and document business processes, workflows, and information needs.
- Translate business requirements into data requirements and technical specifications.
- Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and validation processes.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, schemas, and data flow diagrams.
- Collaborate with business analysts and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements and innovation.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in data modeling and Azure data services.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior data modelers and data engineers.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data modeling, with at least 2 years focusing on Microsoft Azure.
- Proficiency in data modeling tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, or similar.
- Strong understanding of relational, dimensional, and NoSQL data modeling techniques.
- Practical experience with Kimble star schema data warehousing design concepts.
- Expert-level SQL skills and experience with performance tuning and optimization.
- Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, and other Azure data services.
- Solid understanding of ETL processes, and BI tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
