MMI Engineered Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Designer Engineer, experienced with plastic injection mold design to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of mold and/or part design experience. Our goal is to be a strategic engineering resource supporting OEM product engineers in the design, development and handling of mission-critical components and products. Our comprehensive development process ensures the highest caliber solutions. We utilize Pro/E and UG NX design software. We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. This position is located at Saline, Michigan. The Design Engineer will actively participate in defining the optimum engineered part solution for our clients with direction and input from the Application Engineers. Position involves the creation of the CAD solid models and detailed drawings that fully communicate the engineered part solution. Mold design involves the creation of the CAD solid models and drawings that fully communicate the tool design to the CNC Programmers, Tool shop personnel, and mold suppliers when required. This position requires the management of several projects at one time.
Duties:
- Responsible for Mold Design Review, Mold Design Review Check List, and PDP for Mold Design.
- Responsible for validation of part design using DFMEA, FEA, and Mold Flow Analysis.
- Responsible to maintain personal CAD skill set and knowledge of engineering software capabilities.
- Responsible for translating design files.
- Design tools capable of efficiently producing results that meet cost, performance, function, and criteria, specifications of solution.
- Development, documentation, and monitoring of MMI Mold Design Standards.
- Mold Design File control.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent experience.
- Two (2) years' experience in area of Plastic Injection Molding tool and product design.
- Experience in the design of molds for the manufacture of complex molded products desired.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Unigraphics NX and/or Pro Engineer part Design.
- Demonstrated experience with mold flow analysis.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Autodesk FEA modeling software.
- Fundamental mechanical engineering knowledge.
- Demonstrated understanding of GD&T.
- Demonstrated data management and transfer skills.
- Proven communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated workload and time management skills - comfortable with tight project deadlines.
