ROLE PURPOSE/POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Digital Fundraising Strategist is responsible for developing digital fundraising strategy and execution for Greenpeace US' fundraising emails and supporting digital strategies for mid-level, major donors, and planned giving audiences. The role requires strong creative writing ability, content creation, and a deep understanding of digital communications, analytical skills, marketing, fundraising, project management, and usability. This role will work with Development, communications and campaigns team members to facilitate comprehensive audience fundraising strategies in email to grow, retain, and upgrade supporters for Greenpeace Inc and Fund. The role will test and track, analyzing digital fundraising results, as well as identify opportunities to engage potential donors in effective and innovative direct fundraising strategies.
The Senior Digital Fundraising Strategist will be a key contributor in Greenpeace USA's digital fundraising team. This will be a results-oriented position that will lead key areas of Greenpeace USA's campaign projects and engagement strategy for our high-profile campaigns. The Senior Digital Fundraising Strategist will deftly juggle planned and responsive work and ongoing core work within the digital fundraising team. This person will identify opportunities, set ambitious goals for projects, collaborate with key stakeholders across teams to advance the work, and collaborate across departments to bring in new supporters, raise money, and deepen supporter engagement across all email audiences, including mid-level, major donors and planned giving audiences.
The Senior Digital Fundraising Strategist is a full-time, hybrid, exempt, benefits-eligible role that can be based in any location GPUS is authorized to work in (CA, CT, DC, MD, NY, NJ, VA) and is represented by the Progressive Workers Union. This role reports to the Digital Fundraising Senior Manager.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Digital Communications and Fundraising Strategy:
- Collaborates with the Development, Communications and Advocacy teams to create and test donor acquisition strategies for Greenpeace Inc and Fund
- Works with the direct mail team on content and creative strategies to provide mail donors with online giving options and stewardship touch points
- Develop digital communications to offer active and lapsed donors regular opportunities to engage with Greenpeace Inc and Fund.
- Develop digital communications strategies, content and email pipelines to cultivate low-level donors, mid-level donors, major donors, and planned giving prospects by providing pathways to upgrade their giving
- Build upon audience strategies that lift overall revenue and increase in support of Greenpeace's mission, with a strong focus on email segmentation.
- Works across teams to ensure a donor journey that is consistent and as personal as possible and ensures strong strategic messaging and creative tests to increase response.
Email Lead Generation & Fundraising:
- Strong focus on email lead generation conversion.
- Oversees messaging and creative content in email fundraising appeals.
- Manage external email vendor relationships – selects, manages, and holds vendors accountable
- Work cross-departmentally to coordinate messaging and manage GPUS email calendar with an aim to provide an exceptional user experience that results in increased engagement and donations.
- Create and conduct the stewardship of campaign production timelines
- In partnership with Online team, ensure email list health and growth, including email deliverability best practices
- Create email and able to deploy
Testing and Reporting:
- Collaborates interdepartmentally to create and test supporter journeys aimed at increasing donor retention rates
- Conceive and implement consistent data-driven testing strategies to drive key KPIs such as conversion, retention rates and LTV of donors.
- Create and monitor reports on all key KPI's. Work with the data team to prepare reports to share with wider development and online teams.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience with digital fundraising
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing CRMs
- Strong data analysis experience
- Experience using A/B testing in advocacy, fundraising and/or marketing capacity
- Email and digital fundraising strategy experience
- Knowledge of fundraising industry trends and best practices and strategies that are working in the advocacy space
Skills/Competencies/Attributes:
- Proven ability to drive digital fundraising income through proven tactics and data-driven testing and strategy.
- Strong creative writing ability and content creation
- Understanding of digital marketing and communications
- Ability to analyze data and translate results into actionable steps.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple priorities and excellent time-management skills
- Able to work both with a team and independently
- Strong copy writer for fundraising emails
- Basic understanding of HTML
- Self-starter with a positive attitude who enjoys working proactively and thinking creatively.

This role is graded at a level 3, and a salary within the range of $78,668 - $85,146 is anticipated to be provided to the successful candidate having met the minimum requirements for the position consistent with reflecting our commitment to maintaining competitive and fair compensation practices.
