As a Senior Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced DSP algorithms for our cutting-edge communication systems
Your expertise in signal processing and wireless communication will be crucial in ensuring the efficient and reliable transmission of data across our LEO satellite network
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance solutions that meet stringent performance criteria.This position reports to the Senior Director of Product and System Integration and is based in our Saratoga, CA office.What you will do:Algorithm Design and Development:Lead the design and implementation of advanced DSP algorithms for communication systems, focusing on modulation, demodulation, channel estimation, and error correctionDevelop and optimize algorithms for real-time embedded systems, ensuring they meet the performance requirements for high-throughput, low-latency applicationsSimulate and analyze the performance of DSP algorithms under various channel conditions using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and C++System Integration and Testing:Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate DSP algorithms into the overall communication system, including FPGA and ASIC platformsDevelop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate the performance of DSP algorithms in real-world scenariosIdentify and resolve performance bottlenecks, continuously refining algorithms to enhance system reliability and efficiencyInnovation and Optimization:Stay at the forefront of the latest advancements in digital signal processing and wireless communication technologies, incorporating relevant innovations into algorithm designOptimize DSP algorithms to mitigate the impact of physical layer impairments such as noise, interference, and fadingLead efforts to innovate and improve the DSP capabilities of our communication systems, contributing to the development of next-generation satellite technologiesDocumentation and Reporting:Document the design, development, and testing processes for DSP algorithms, ensuring that all relevant details are recorded for future referencePrepare technical reports and presentations to communicate algorithm performance and project progress to internal and external stakeholdersParticipate in design and code reviews, providing constructive feedback to improve overall system performanceCollaboration and Leadership:Work closely with system architects, hardware engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless integration of DSP algorithms into the communication systemProvide technical mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous learning and improvementSupport system integration and field trials, offering expert guidance to ensure successful deployment of communication systemsWhat you bring to this role:Master’s or Ph.D
degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field10+ years of experience in digital signal processing, with a strong focus on wireless communication systemsProficiency in algorithm development and simulation using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and C++Hands-on experience with real-time embedded systems, including FPGA and ASIC developmentStrong background in communication theory, digital signal processing, and wireless communication standardsExcellent problem solving skillsBonus points for the following:Strong knowledge of 3GPP standards, preferably 5GNRExperience with hardware implementation and testing of communication systemsFamiliarity with software-defined radio (SDR) platforms and toolsStrong programming skills in languages such as C/C++, Python, or VHDL/VerilogThis is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office. The target base pay for this position is $150,000 - $220,000 annually. The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities
