The Senior Director, Investment & Valuation will be a key member of our Investment & Valuation (I&V) team, bringing renewable energy projects forward for investment decisions at RWE Clean Energy (RWECE). Our I&V team enables value-added growth by providing analysis and critical advice to our colleagues in the business while ensuring strong governance around investment decisions. The Senior Director will work closely with the regional head of Development, our I&V team and with colleagues from the whole Finance community. Our team environment is high-energy. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the analysis and valuation of investment and M&A opportunities around onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage projects and thereby support the strong growth ambitions of our Renewables business in US Central Region.
- Manage and own team, with a focus on people and talent development in line with the RWE Clean Energy growth ambitions.
- Drive people development via motivating, coaching, mentoring, and training of team members.
- Take responsibility for investment decision processes within this geographical area, oversee the preparation of presentations and deliver investment recommendations for the consideration of the RWE Clean Energy Executive Leadership Team (C-suite) and the RWE Clean Energy Board.
- Ensure and continuously improve our state-of-the-art financial valuations, both regarding methodological and modeling topics.
- Work closely with the Senior Vice President I&V and the other (Senior) Directors. Support other members of the I&V team and contribute to our strong team spirit.
- Responsible for the analysis, valuation, and recommendation across the lifecycle of these opportunities, e.g., early stage, auction participation, offtake valuation, and final investment decision for development projects as well as for M&A transactions applying quantitative and qualitative analyses and effective communication.
- Responsible for sourcing, independent challenging, and validation of valuation-relevant information and business cases and for driving the overall valuation process.
- Responsible for post-completion reviews after investment/deal decisions to validate and continuously refine assumptions, methodology, and process.
- Manage investment decision process within the RWE Clean Energy organization for the US Central Region and support continuously developing state-of-the-art valuation methodology.
- Ensure compliance with internal directives and applied methodologies.
- Orchestrate the valuation and investment process for the Central Region and work seamlessly with multiple parts of the RWE Clean Energy organization, e.g., across Development, Engineering, Procurement, Project Execution, Operations, Commercial, Tax Equity, and Legal.
- Exchange regularly with valuation experts from other parts of RWE.
- Promote and foster a strong entrepreneurial, performance, and collaboration culture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a similar university degree required.
- MBA or advanced degree with a focus on Finance or Economics or a Finance-related professional designation (e.g. CFA, CPA, PMI) preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Finance roles preferred.
- Proficiency in valuation methodologies (especially DCF) and in financial modeling (Excel).
- Strong communication and presentation skills; convincing in senior management interaction.
- Proven ability to smoothly and rigorously run valuation processes involving numerous parties.
- Experience in people management and development.
- Renewable energy experience.
- Experience working in complex organizations, where cross-functional participation and decision processes apply.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage (inter-company) customer relationships.
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables.
- Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team.
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds.
