Position Summary
The Senior Director of Operations - Solar Field Construction, will work closely with Sales and Engineering teams while providing hands-on leadership, planning and management of large renewable energy projects. This role is responsible for directing self-install and sub-contract administration, construction, and commissioning resources to assure total quality and project delivery on time and within budget.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Duties)
Supervisory Responsibilities
All Construction Department Staff, approximately 200 people.

Position Summary
The Senior Director of Operations - Solar Field Construction, will work closely with Sales and Engineering teams while providing hands-on leadership, planning and management of large renewable energy projects. This role is responsible for directing self-install and sub-contract administration, construction, and commissioning resources to assure total quality and project delivery on time and within budget.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Duties)
- Lead the strategic vision for the Field Operations teams by ensuring your direct leaders are aligned and executing against our self-install strategy.
- Direct, manage, organize, and lead pre-construction, construction, and commissioning field services promptly to maintain industry-best lead-times for accurate, efficient and quality results. Assure project timelines meet schedule and project is completed within budget and scope.
- Understanding of solar renewable energy technologies including installation methods, safety compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, methodologies, and best practices or nearly equivalent technologies from other industries paired with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn.
- Proficiency in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management. Experience in cost estimation and budgeting for construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Work closely with engineering, project management, production, supply chain, and logistics to actively track and report leading indicators for labor, materials, quality, and scope to anticipate and prevent non-compliance or detractors within construction.
- Implementing and enforcing quality control measures to ensure construction meets industry standards and project specifications.
- Responsible for nationwide workforce planning consisting of internal labor, temporary labor and staffing companies, including negotiating terms of labor contracts, overall cost, margins, budgeting, travel arrangements, OSHA compliance, worker training and safety regulation adherence.
- Responsible for the budgeting, planning, acquisition, maintenance, longevity, safety, warranty, and tracking of all tools, machinery, and equipment. Manage storage, issuance, and accountability.
- Effectively communicate, track and report essential departmental data and information to both internal teams and senior management within the company.
- Building and nurturing high-performing teams by promoting collaboration, cultivating opportunities for professional development, fostering a positive work environment, and providing inspiring, motivating, and visionary leadership.
- Use of analytical thinking to address issues and make informed and timely decisions based on data, expertise, and consideration of potential impacts on projects and stakeholders.
- Cultivate strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to foster trust and collaboration.
- Will regularly communicate with customers verbally or in writing, travel to project and customer sites or locations, represent the company positively at trade shows and other customer facing events, in person.
- Complete all required or directed training, certification, licensing, and other learning and development as assigned.
- Abide by all Federal, State, and local laws; uphold and maintain accountability to all Company policy.

Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Construction Management
- 6 Years of Experience in Civil or Commercial Construction, preferably commercial renewable energy
- 4 Years of Experience of Progressive management responsibility in commercial construction
