We are seeking a highly skilled communications professional to manage and lead strategic communications for both executive leadership and multi-site, hourly employees across 20,000+ global employees.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the CHRO and working closely with the CEO and C-Level team, the Senior Director of Multi-Site Workforce Communications will lead strategic internal communications for both corporate teams and dispersed, non-desk hourly employees. This is a highly visible, hands-on role that requires the ability to craft and execute communication strategies across a large, multi-location, hourly workforce—many of whom do not have access to digital tools.
The ideal candidate will come from a company where the internal communications department is small, allowing them to work directly with senior leadership. They must be comfortable managing executive communications for the C-suite while also ensuring clear and effective communications for frontline employees at hundreds of locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Communication Strategies: Develop and execute comprehensive internal communications strategies for a workforce of 20,000+ employees, including corporate, executive, and non-desk hourly employees at multi-site locations.
- Non-Digital Communications: Create and manage non-digital communication channels (e.g., in-person briefings, posters, printed newsletters, SMS, PA systems) for employees who do not have regular internet access.
- Executive Communications: Act as the primary liaison for senior leadership, providing strategic communications counsel and crafting clear, impactful messaging for the C-suite.
- Multi-Site Workforce Engagement: Implement tailored communication strategies to engage hourly employees across more than 50 locations, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement.
- Change Management and Crisis Communications: Lead change management communications during organizational transitions and oversee crisis communications to ensure timely, brand-protective messaging.
- Content Creation: Create high-quality written, digital, and video content that ensures consistent messaging across all platforms for various employee groups.
- Employee Engagement: Develop measurable communication strategies that improve employee engagement and information flow for dispersed, hourly employees without digital access.
- 10+ years of experience in internal corporate communications with a focus on executive communications and employee engagement, including significant experience managing communications for multi-site hourly workforces.
- Proven ability to develop and execute non-digital communication strategies tailored for hourly employees who do not have regular access to digital tools or corporate intranet platforms.
- Demonstrated experience managing internal communications across large, multi-site operations (50+ locations), including employees in industries such as retail, distribution, manufacturing, or facilities services.
- Experience working in a small internal communications department, where direct interaction with the C-suite and executive leadership is required.
- Hands-on experience providing strategic communications counsel while managing tactical communication needs for frontline, non-desk employees.
- Proven track record of improving employee engagement and internal communication efficiency for workforces of 10,000+ employees.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. Master’s preferred.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex information to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership experience, including managing teams of communications professionals.
- Experience with change management, crisis communications, and high-stakes messaging is essential.
