Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead, manage, mentor, and build an extremely talented software engineering team to deliver a game changing core banking platform that powers multiple lines of business within the Bank. This leader must have the ability to attract and recruit the industry’s best talent, and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure that we build compelling, customer oriented solutions in an iterative methodology. Success in the role requires an innovative mind, a proven track record of delivering new consumer-facing software products, rigorous analytical skills, and a passion for creating market-leading software for millions of customers.

You will:
Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers in building our core banking platform
Embrace and incubate emerging technology and open source products across all platforms
Work to modernize our existing tech stacks
Collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and machine learning.
Partner with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the implementation of new applications
Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across mobile and web full-stack development tools and technologies.
Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments
Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards
Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
Create proof of concepts and see through projects through production
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 9 years of experience in software development
At least 7 years of experience in developing web applications and architectural standards
At least 7 years of experience in people management
At least 3 years of experience with cloud technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering
3+ years experience with Amazon Web Services
3+ years of experience with Core Banking platforms or related services and technologies

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $321,500 - $366,900 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
Remote (Regardless of Location): $272,400 - $310,900 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
