Job Description
Title: Sr Electrical Controls Engineer
Reports to: Engineering Supervisor
Position Summary:
The Sr Electrical Controls Engineer will work under the guidance of project managers to produce electrical drawings, approval packages, and engage in basic programming tasks. This role involves field checkout of control panels and equipment, providing customer support during startup, and troubleshooting. The engineer will manage control/system projects from estimating through engineering to installation and commissioning.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive approval packages including Sequence of Operations, front panel layouts, and equipment/I/O lists.
- Specify components and create electrical designs for control panels.
- Utilize E Plan and Draftsight software for production-ready drawings.
- Perform in-house system checkouts and assist production technicians with component installations.
- Guide and direct associate engineering staff on assigned projects.
- Generate detailed instruction manuals for completed projects.
- Program Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), VFDs, Soft Starters.
- Develop applications using Factory Talk Studio and Factory Talk View.
- Conduct HMI and PC programming.
- Adhere to UL 508A, NEC, and NFPA standards in industrial control designs.
- Liaise with vendors and customers for technical information exchange.
- Investigate new technologies in the market.
- Provide onsite and remote troubleshooting and system startup support.

Knowledge, Education, or Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with Allen Bradley hardware including PLCs, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, VFDs, and Soft Starters.
- Familiarity with Rockwell Software products like RSLogix and Factory Talk Studio.
- Proficient in E-plan and Draftsight (or AutoCAD) software.
- Understanding of structured text programming.
- Knowledge of UL 508A, NEC, and NFPA standards related to industrial control panel design.
- UL MET Certification or willingness to obtain it.
Characteristics Required:
- Independent work capability with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel.
- Dependability and flexibility with changing priorities and routines.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, including extensive computer work.
