Senior Electrical Designer (Remote) - The Bergaila Companies

About the Job
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Designer for a remote opportunity out of Anchorage, Alaska. The selected candidate will both perform design tasks and lead others; producing complete construction drawing packages with limited engineering guidance, often paired with junior engineers to help mentor them in the craft of design.
Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
** A strong capability for complex design tasks such as switchgear control and wiring schematics is essential **
Responsibilities:- Execute project design tasks in partnership with Electrical Engineer counterparts
- Coordinate with Electrical Engineer and project team to develop basic to complex schedules
- Coordinate inter-discipline design directly with counterparts in other disciplines (such as piping and control systems)
- Work within 3D design software where applicable; contribute to and extract information from 3D model
- Perform detailed vendor document reviews and incorporate into project design
- Establish design budgets, forecast work, manage scope and budget for self and the design team
- Perform drawing and document research in client databases; coordinate with Document Control and Clients to properly find and checkout drawings
- Coordinate final package quality checks and hand-off to project assistants for formal issue
- Lead the development of detailed construction packages in accordance with codes and standards, including:
- Process and Instrumentation Diagrams
- Block Diagrams
- Location and Plot Plans
- Motor control and wiring schematics
- Switchgear control and wiring schematics
- Single line drawings
- Electrical grounding, power, and lighting plan drawings
- Electrical hazardous area classification drawings
- Installation details
- Heat tracing design and drawings
- Conduit and Tray Diagrams
- Material Take-Offs (MTO) and Bills of Material (BoMs)
- Coordinate final package quality checks and hand-off to project assistants for formal issue
- Perform quality checks on ones’ own work, as well as independent checks for co-workers
- Ensure projects and work processes adhere to Project Services Quality System (PSQS)
- NOTE: as a lead designer, you may not perform all of these duties on a given project, but you are ultimately responsible for the quality and completeness of the package
- 10+ years experience in Electrical Design on Oil and Gas, Refining and/or Petrochemical Plant projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2010 (or newer) software
- Experience developing construction packages for small to medium projects ($1MM to $30MM TIC)
- Proficient designing wiring, conduit and cable tray systems for NEC-hazardous classified areas
- Ability to point out and provide solutions for drawing consistency, quality and presentation errors in deliverables
- Working knowledge of conduit, wire and breaker sizing calculations
- Working knowledge of 120/480VAC power and lighting design and motor control circuit/schematics
