As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Electrical Engineer to help shape our state-of-the-art robotic inventory management system. As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work within the Structure and I/O Electrical Engineering team, on our storage and retrieval structure and I/O system. Areas of focus include: the design and development of electrical power and control enclosures, custom cable assemblies and harnesses, building and testing prototypes, creating test plans for prototype validation and other system-level functionality, troubleshooting electrical system (120VAC, 208VAC, 24VDC, and ASi), and implementing findings on project or program-wide deliverables.
Responsibilities will span managing the lifecycle of our products, from conception to obsolescence, providing remote and on-site support, traveling to installation sites for troubleshooting, and working with vendors as a functional ambassador. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will have an opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional product engineering and other teams within and across the organization.
What you will work on:
- Help conceptualize electrical design to meet product requirements.
- Select components, develop block diagrams, wiring drawings, and one-line drawings for power distribution (3-phase 208VAC, 1-phase 120VAC) and control cabinets (24VDC, with SPLC and IOs).
- Build complete lists of parts required to design, develop, and manufacture electro-mechanical solutions.
- Document electrical designs using AutoCAD Electrical and PLM (Propel).
- Build and test prototype control cabinets, custom cable assemblies, and harnesses.
- Troubleshooting electrical power and control systems (120VAC, 208VAC, 24VDC, and ASi) with electrical safe practices, participating in root cause analysis and implementing project/ program/design-wide fixes.
- Support field engineers and work with them to implement field-facing product changes and upgrades.
- Contribute to developing functional processes, engineering and installation work instructions, and standardization guidelines setting up process-driven work environment.
- Engage with cross-functional product engineering teams, manufacturing, supply chain, supplier quality, field quality, installation, commissioning & provisioning, and hardware services teams.
- Create and release new parts and system specifications and related documentation, including ECO creation for releasing all product documentation to the PLM system.
- The position may require one to be on-call at times, including holidays and weekends.
- Domestic travel up to 25% to support field installation and site support teams. Visit vendors based on project needs.
What we're looking for:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of professional experience, or M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of professional experience.
- Experience designing AC and DC circuits for power panels (120VAC, 208VAC, 24VDC) and control panels (120VAC & 24V DC), safety sensors, E-stops, interlocking mechanisms, and PLC hardware.
- Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical or another electrical CAD tool. Knowing a 3D mechanical CAD tool is a plus.
- Proficient in generating schematic drawings, spec sheets, and assembly-level documentation (Bill of Material, wiring, and layout drawings)
- Systems engineering mindset with multidisciplinary experience (electrical and mechanical with a bit of software)
- Hands-on with electrical test tools such as multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and Wiring skills - crimping and soldering.
- Basic knowledge and familiarity with electronics components and circuit design
- Familiarity with NFPA 70 (National Electric Code), NFPA79 and UL508A.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E, (Electrical Safety in the Workplace) is a plus.
- Familiarity with UL and CE compliance requirements is a plus.
- Familiarity with RoHS and REACH compliance is a plus.
- Experienced with ethernet, Profinet and Actuator Sensor Interface (ASi) is a plus.
- Familiarity with PLC is a plus, Siemens PLC is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional success.
- Positive attitude, an initiator, and a go-getter with the ability to work in a tight schedule environment on multiple projects.
