CEG Solutions is seeking a remote Senior Electrical Engineer to add to our growing energy engineering team. We are passionate about delivering innovative energy infrastructure solutions that are sustainability focused. We partner with our clients to address their most critical needs for sustainable energy development and design-build construction across the US. past projects have ranged from municipal renewable energy solutions to revitalizing central plant systems at the Office of Personnel Management to reconfiguring data center power and cooling systems at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

A successful candidate will have deep experience in Energy Audit, MEP Design for building systems. We seek an entrepreneurial spirit to think critically and creatively about all ranges of electrical systems, from distributed and renewable energy systems to power transformation and distribution, down to building lighting and controls.
This position requires a dynamic individual with strong technical abilities and a proven ability to balance multiple concurrent projects. Detailed responsibilities include:
- Support technical development of new market opportunities, such as renewable energy, PV, BESS, Microgrid solutions.
- Develop electrical concept designs to support an array of energy generation and energy savings initiatives including photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage electrical power systems.
- Direct, oversee and review third-party engineering designs.
- Provide NEC and building code guidance for projects.
- Support facility audits to identify ECMs (energy conservation measurements).
- Recommend ECMs and prepare energy analyses of facilities and/or systems.
- Recommend energy-efficient design solutions and technology upgrades that are supported by accurate descriptions, measured, and logged energy data, savings calculations, and cost estimates.
- Conduct detailed lighting and control system energy improvement analyses and complete calculations using custom tools, spreadsheets and/or modeling software.
- Support the development of Measurement & Verification plans and protocols, commissioning protocols, and post-implementation Operations & Maintenance protocols.
- Coordinate the integration of design engineering, project construction, start-up/turnover, and subsequent Operations & Maintenance procedures for energy projects.
- Assist with project development (e.g., construction planning, price, schedule, environmental, warranties, performance guarantees, risk mitigation plans)
- Oversee the engineering analyses and technical support work of project subcontractors.
- Willingness to travel (for site audits and walks) ~20% of the time.
- Ability to work remote and attend virtual meetings across all US time zones.
Candidates are required to have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and P.E., advanced degree highly preferred
- Minimum 8 years of experience in building-related electrical engineering, building energy systems (e.g., electrical distribution, lighting, generation, renewable energy, recent microgrid project experience, etc.) and familiarity of National Electric Code and other building codes.
- Minimum 8 Years in electrical efficiency design engineering with analytical, and technical writing skills.
Preferred Skills are a bonus:
- A passion for the areas of energy efficiency, alternative energy, and sustainability.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and project management to guide and mentor a team of energy engineers to identify, develop and implement integrated energy efficiency programs.
- The ability to individually develop custom energy improvement calculation tools is a plus.
General knowledge of the financial, technical, and political aspects driving the energy industries.
Hybrid Work Model
Most of our team operates in a remote or hybrid workplace model that optimizes a combination of virtual and in-person interactions. We are intentional when we co-locate with each other and our clients for maximum impact while empowering our people to preserve the flexibility that they desire. The nature of our work managing client transformations will require some team members to be onsite at client locations, therefore the ability to travel is expected.
Our hybrid model benefits our people, and notably the environment. By reducing travel and commuting time, this aids in the reduction of our carbon footprint.
Wages + Salary
The salary range for this position is $145,000 to $170,000 annually. CEG Solutions LLC takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
Please note that this is a general estimate and does not incorporate any adjustments for geographic location. Typically, starting salaries are determined based on individual qualifications and experience, and may fall below the top end of the range.
In addition to your salary, you may qualify for our annual bonus program. This program is discretionary and awards, if any, are based on your performance as well as the company's overall success.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Performance of the job responsibilities will require the ability to (1) use tools and operate equipment in the field, (2) ascend/descend both exterior and interior ladders/stairs, and (3) move safely around an area under construction. The employee must also be able to easily communicate with clients, stakeholders, and other employees and observe various pieces of equipment in the field. The employee must occasionally move and/or transport up to 75 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction work site where the employee where risk of moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Personal protection equipment and required safety training will be provided by the employer.
