Client:
Established in 1982, our client is a 200-person engineering firm headquartered in the greater Philadelphia area with full-service offices in New York, Boston, Baltimore and Washington, DC. As a multi-disciplined engineering design firm, they provide services to corporate, transportation, hospitality, laboratories, healthcare, education, pharmaceutical and retail markets. Their services span all project phases from site selection through detail design to third party commissioning. Expertise includes mechanical, electrical, plumbing/fire protection, structural, integrated technology services, and preventative maintenance commissioning.
Job Description:
Immediate need for an Electrical Engineer for the New York office to design electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm systems, interior and exterior lighting, and lighting controls.
Responsibilities:
- Design building electrical distribution, fire alarm and security systems
- Prepare calculations for feeders, services, short circuit, and transformer size.
- Perform on-site surveys of existing electrical equipment.
- Determine schedules and details required for the project and review with the project engineer.
- Attend job meetings as required.
- Assist in writing reports and feasibility studies.
- Support developing electrical standards.
- Fifteen years or more experience in designing electrical power distribution infrastructure, fire alarm systems, interior and exterior lighting, and lighting controls.
- Knowledge should include familiarity with short circuits, arc flash coordination, design of interior and exterior lighting, and photometric calculations.
- Knowledge of applicable codes including energy conservation.
- EIT certification strongly desired.
- PE license preferred.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Proficiency with Revit with at least 3 years of professional experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering - PE license preferred.
