About the Job
The Senior Electrical Engineer to develop and prepare detailed electrical engineering and construction installation documents, in addition to providing engineering support during the construction phase of projects to our project management and field installation employees. All engineering support is to be done in compliance with all applicable electrical and building codes, customer requirements and company engineering/design standards. Provides leadership and mentoring to the project design team. Support various project types within the industrial business unit. Projects will be primarily focused on Food & Beverage, Chemical Manufacturing, and Consumer Products applications.
Specific Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare detailed electrical engineering and construction installation documents and provide engineering support during the construction phase of projects to our project management and field installation employees.
- Gathers and requests specific information from other design disciplines necessary to move forward and complete the electrical design on schedule.
- Develops the electrical design for the purpose of producing a Revit or BIM model. Check all designs prepared by internal design team and subcontractors for quality and accuracy.
- Prepares project design guidelines, involving scopes of work, electrical specifications, and reports
- Responsible for providing required quantity of completed design documents to proper persons or inspection authorities.
- Consults with vendors and reviews project shop drawings for design accuracy and contract requirements.
- Provides technical support to project managers, field personnel, estimators, and customers.
- Develop conceptual designs, reports, sketches and Value Engineering ideas to assist project managers or estimators in the preparation of an estimate.
- Review and update corporate engineering standards.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop an accurate accounting of all engineering hours required for proposal development.
- Oversight of engineering implementation through design phases
- Develop conceptual or detailed electrical designs in medium & low voltage power distribution, lighting, and special systems.
- Apply thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code and other applicable building codes to design projects.
- Meet with clients and A/E teams to develop the specific design requirements for an assigned project.
- Teach and mentor less experienced design team members.
- Create power plans, grounding plans, lighting plans, single line diagrams, motor control schematics, and panel schedules.
- Produce electrical load studies and utility service size estimates.
- Develop electrical equipment specifications for switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and panels.
- Reviews information shared by other disciplines to confirm equipment data power requirements.
- Manage subcontractor designs and review drawing packages for quality and accuracy per the project scope.
- Review and analyze process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and utility systems designs to develop the electrical requirements for the project.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 8+ years of applicable experience.
- P.E. License with the ability to obtain licenses in multiple states.
- Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and other Building Codes
- Familiar with Navisworks.
- Understanding of short circuit current ratings and fault current analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of the Electrical Construction industry.
- Thorough knowledge of all types of electrical installations and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Willingness to travel in support of the site-specific needs and staffing.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Products including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communications skills.
- Proven ability to work independently or as a team leader with a high degree of organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
