Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics
Curtiss Wright / Arens is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics. This position will be part of a group of Power Electronics Engineers focusing on technology and innovation for high power electronic devices, systems, and control software. This position will focus on system level aspects of Curtiss’ Wrights Inverter Product line interfacing directly with members of the Curtiss Wright Power Electronics Team along with interfacing directly with customers to support application and integration requirements. Responsibilities will also include design and production release of power electronic converters and inverters used in eMobility applications including on road and off-road vehicles.

Your Challenge:
+ Technical Customer Interface for vehicle integration – occasional travel required
+ Technical Interface for customer selected motor manufacturer for pairing Curtiss Wright Inverters
+ Define and implement requirements based on customer specifications
+ Test and validate applications based on customer requirements
+ Design, simulate and analyze power electronic systems, drive systems
+ Design and test of power electronic converters and inverters including controls
+ Evaluate Component selection options for power electronic converters and inverters
+ Develop controls architecture, Interface requirements, identify sensor needs and software requirements of power conversion devices
+ Analyze systems with respect to electrical, harmonic and thermal behavior.
+ Develop system test plans and execute test on bench and test cell
+ Contribute to controller hardware selection
+ Support integration and compliance testing of customer applications
+ Perform root-cause failure analysis and DFMEA in relation to controls
+ Work with an interdisciplinary team to validate, test and refine overall system design.
+ Interface with customers, suppliers, and internal team members on a daily basis
What You Bring
+ Minimum of a bachelors degree in electrical engineering MS Preferred
+ 5+ years of design experience in an Engineering field related to power electronics
+ Proficiency with simulation tools (PSpice, Simulink, Saber) and a basic programming skills C and MATLAB
+ Experience in high power (up to 1000KW) and medium voltage (<1000Vdc) of inverter and gate drive circuitry for motor drives application
+ Experience in design of isolated and non-isolated power converters such as flyback, resonant for low and high voltage application
+ Experience in design of magnetics for low and high voltage power converter application
+ Experience in EMC testing and mitigation
+ Working knowledge and design experience or strong fundamentals of Field Oriented Control of 3-phase AC induction or Permanent Magnet motors
+ Strong EE fundamentals and circuit design experience in power electronics, analog and digital circuits with microcontroller-based embedded systems
+ Schematic capture and PCB layout design for mixed signal boards (Altium, etc.)
+ Experience with high-volume manufacturing and testing
+ Experience with various PWM schemes such as space vector
+ Experience using Vector CANAlyzer for analysis, monitoring
+ Hands on experience in using an Oscilloscope
+ Hands on experience in testing inverter for Induction or PM motor applications.
+ Hands on experience with 4 quadrant dynamometers. 200kW+ is preferred.
+ Experience with High Voltage contactors and fuses a plus
+ Self-motivator and team-player
+ Must be highly motivated, innovative and have strong communication skills
